size reference of how big the trail is:

On "Recon Ridge", at the top of the ridge. You want rollercoasters? We got rollercoasters.
is that the trail that they were running down at the end of the recon surviving the cut?

Im pretty sure it is. The recon school has it as its back yard. I just dont think that anything where you get 3 meals a day and 8 of rest a night can be hard after Ranger school. I know that BUDS and the Q course would be way more challenging because they dont care about numbers. Whether 2 or 30 make through a course. The Corps has to make these guys pass and unless your a soild rock mauncher you wont make it. A few years back there was a huge puss from HQMC that pretty much said 'hey recon you will make recon marines or stand the **** by" numbers jumped 10 fold in the following classes. Once again goes to show that no matter where you go there are those faggort bastards that "protect the tab" and say that its so much easier now than when I went through or that the standard isnt what it used to be. Thus never teaching the green horn **** besides misery and pain

Im going the Benning sunday...Ive heard know was the "roughest" but Benning seems to be more strict from what I've been told. Its an infantry training center so it only makes sense they put everyone through more hardships and are more disciplined. Good luck to you either way

I went through Ft. Benning 17 years ago as an OSUT. Very strict but, it was'nt that bad...it's all a mind game. Don't stand out, don't spout off, do as your told and you'll be ok. I was then stationed at the 25ID in Hawaii and as much as people gave me crap saying that "it's party time", they could'nt have been more wrong. Hawaii is basically two mountain ranges...going up or coming down, while in a tropical storm, slipping on red mud, with 80-110 pounds on your back (not including K-POT, LCE, M60) FUN, FUN.

Well since the m60 was replaced by the m240, not m249... oh forget it, bootcamp is a joke, but honestly if I get another pfc saying how big and loud his di was or anything I will stab him.... these kids cant even pack rucks anymore, like the idea of all the stuff you are issued accually fits in that bag eludes them, I fit it all in and he was like of you must have been good at boot, I almost lost my mind, why can't we just hit them anymore?

I know the M249 is still around, I was just stating that it is a huge pile of **** compared to the 45 year old M60. Although I think that today's version of the M249 is dramaticaly smaller in size to the full sized one I used 17 years ago.

M249= 5.56mm light machine gun... it's gotten a shorter barrel and a collapsible butt stock these days but I wouldn't call it "dramatically smaller".

M240= 7.62mm medium machine gun that replaced the M60... it's actually longer and heavier than the M60.
