I already have some springs and dampers ive been looking at to bring it down a little, and some nicer wheels which wont make a difference the existing ones are just beaten up badly. Ride quality isn't a big deal to me at all I just want to find a good combination for stance and a something fun in the corners.

What all goes into a setup a setup like that? Im just a little in the dark on that sort of thing. Any info you could contribute would be nice

What kind of car do you have?

Like you said, you have options. Spring/strut combo or adjustable coilovers.

Now when it comes to camber, when you lower a car you will pickup a little bit of natural camber. To really dial it in to what you want, depending on your car, you can purchase camber plates, camber bolts, or a camber kit.

Depending on what you do suspension wise, some coilovers come with camber plates.

I'd also google lowering whatever car you're working with and seeing if you'll need some toe adjustment as well. Camber wears tires prematurely, excessive toe eats em up.

Its a 2000 Saab 9-5 aero. Is there a benefit to either coilovers or springs/struts? Or is it just personal preference? I had no idea about natural camber when you go lower.

Edit - so adding camber is as simple as picking up camber bolts, but there are some negative side affects regarding tire wear? I found some camber bolts on partsforsaabs.com that I might order if that is a solution.

Thank you two

Coilovers give you adjustability height wise and damper wise.

A spring and shock combo will give you a set ride height but will offer damper adjustability.

With negative camber, you are going to have some premature tire wear. Adding camber can be as simple as adding camber bolts but if you lower your car you will most likely not need them, unless you want to add positive camber with them to try and minimalize the amount of negative camber you get.

Edit: So ive been talking to a guy who wants my stock fozzy suspension. Instead of buying them, he proposed trading his JIC coils. The front left is blown so I would need to have it sent out to JIC for a rebuild, but I would come out on top for sure. Hopefully it goes through.

You can also buy adjustable struts/shocks. Koni, Tokico, KYB, etc.

Pretty much the only thing you gain with a kit is an all-in-one adjustable kit. Depending on the company, dampeners made for a specific ride height/spring rate, too.

Here is a "rat rod" for you, i'm sorry, but why would you want to truck compared to something like this?
Dude rats deserve alot more credit than that ugly piece of work

and here's what's a "Hot rod" in my book, mine isn't near the show quality of a "hot rod" it's got primer and rust all over it for christ's sake and I'm only keeping the bare essentials to make my truck function

I think a rat rod is something that appears to not be finished regardless of it is or isn't. And flat blacks or exaggerated sparkle paint jobs. But most importantly they're pre 1965 and built to be driven and had fun with! Not any of that trailer princess bull****!

This is pro skater Steve Cabillaro's rod, sooo nice!

See that one (steve cab's) is a rat rod in my book or that first pictured truck that started this little dispute, they just happen to be top of the line/good quality rat rods or just plainly considered.... rods. Rat rods are stripped down to the bare bones and meant to be driven, hot rods are more much more clean with a ton of chrome and billet parts (and usually close to appearing complete). I noticed you and the other guy are from TX and CA maybe the lingo is different out there

Maybe, who knows. I hate billet though. haha. But that's a beautiful machine regardless. And "rat rods" can be unsafe sometimes too because they are parted together with all sorts of parts, but sometimes you can have that look but still have a safe machine. But bottom line these cars were meant to be driven and are classics. Half the cars posted in here won't stand the test of time like these cars have.

Nice! Good looking car for sure but a little to nice for my taste haha. In my shop a few weeks ago we had a 1930 model a that was chopped and I helped put a rebuilt 1950 336 ford flat head in
