My recommendation is always an Ego. Great guns and extremely easy to maintain. Perfect for the beginner or weekend Rec-baller.

Im not saying that any marker out there is worse, only that the Ego is a great fit.

The pmr will probably shoot the smoothest when it's working. It'll be the quiest too. Problem is if you don't like teching markers then pmr is not for you. Any dye/proto I've owned was a great shooter but meticulous to maintain. Etek very reliable. I have a ego 6 as my backup and never a problem. Little on the loud side but low maintenance. Mini I feel is in between. Great shooter for the price. Easy to take a part and clean. Just my opinion. Gl

What's the best/most reliable electric gun for a beginner? Marker price range is about $200-$250 max.

def pick one up if your eyeing it, got one for my gf about a month ago,
Fast, smooth, gots the gold ole PE reliability, etha will take a beating and keep going like a champ, gun feels real nice in your hands, but only thing I would suggest of your going for new, maybe look around for a used ego8, they are by far still one of the best guns on the market and shoot just like a newer high end

THIS IS IN RESPONSE TO defa1t's QUESTION.

Honestly, you'll both have fun with a quality setup over an electronic one.

Considered the Empire ER3?

Yeah, it's spyder threads, but it's low-key, ergonomic and small/lightweight. Of all the low-end mech gun triggers out there, I love the ER3's best.

Fortunately, they're $75 a pop, have POLISHED Stainless Steel hammers in them and some really good quality cupseals and Orings, so no ******* sputtering.

With all that cash saved, you can go out and buy:

2x CP 1-piece classic 12" barrels in spyder threads and .685 bore
and
2x Brand Name Alloy/Metal/Aluminum Compressed Air Tanks (like a 62/3000 should be perfect)

That should run you about $75+$35+$40, so $150 per setup per person.

Throw in 2 Empire E-Flexes using the cash you saved and 2 Invert Reloader 2s and you'll have an incrdibly timeless and well laid out setup.

Why I suggest specific pieces like this?

The ER3 comes from a company with phenomenal customer support, but you'll never need it. It has very high quality and well designed parts. The gun as a whole is made extremely well and isn't designed as a "low end" as much as it was "The perfect novice mechanical".

The Mask? Well, it's a truism in the paintball community that one must always spend the bulk of their budget, if on anything, the perfect mask. The Eflex combines the was-perfect JT Proflex, which was super lightweight and breathable, with the Empire E-vent, which has a fantastic lens changing system which doesn't leave behind cracked nails in some cases.

The tank? Well, Carbon Fiber compressed systems are just too much, and if you buy a name brand (ie; Ninja or Guerrilla), you get the same quality regulator (with adjustable output and positioning) just with a cheaper bottle (which quality varies none between brands).

The loader? You won't shoot fast so you don't need anything good, but a gravity fed loader will just keep jamming and piss you off and eventually you'll break paint, so it's best to have at least a motorized agitating loader which will prevent ball breakage (smooth shooting all day long) and will stop those moments of "****, IT'S NOT SHOOTING AND SOMEONE'S COMING!!! WHAT DO I DO!?!?!"

It's happened to most of us.

So yeah.

Oh yeah, on the barrel: The one downside to the Empire is the **** barrels. They really are ****. Well... all low end guns come with ****ty barrels and the Empire is a loud proof for the "no exceptions" rule.

Again, everything chosen has been proven to be a proper product and work perfectly out of the box.

When possible, buy used as it will save you cash on the same stuff.
Yea, it may come worn, but most everything is either replaceable or washable or just needs a simple tweaking to get it working right again.

EDIT: oh... this isn't hwat I thought.

THIS IS IN RESPONSE TO defa1t's QUESTION.
