Was in the same situation. Got a geo2 because it was a great price, but if money is an issue, get the g6r, personal opinion in that price range, get out and try to shoot both, see what you like better.

Just get regular paintball equipment. Good durable pants, lightweight shirt, a good mask and pack. For a gun setup, get a regular paintball marker so that you can use it for any playing situation.
Do some research on guns that would interest you. Make sure you pick a gun that you like. Look at your price range, decide if you new or used, and then look up some options.

If ur goin to buy a gun and at a good price the etek1 is a good starter gun and very easy to clean and it only cost at least 275 and its a reliable gun too.

I would go with the Rail. It costs less, it actually works very well for the price, it has the same reg as the DM8-9, and it is made by Dye, who has great customer service.

The G4 and Rail are the same price. At least at all my local shops. The G4 has a better asa, feedneck, trigger and no damn braided line. The Rail is made by Dye, true, but it's their bottomline cheapest gun, and it shoots like it. If you want to spend $300 on a Proto, buy an older PM and skip the Rail junk. Just my opinion.

DM7. Not even a comparison. The DM will be smoother, more durable, not hard to maintain and will have much better fit and finish than even a brand new Mini. Get one that has been well taken care of and it will treat you better than a Mini. Nothing wrong with the Mini as a begginner gun or for those who like them, but it just doesn't compare with a DM.

Not bad. See if he will go to $250, but if he doesn't, then take it.
