No 'Cat Love?

They split the ICD electro line into all of these subforums, but not even one for all of ICD's wonderful mechanical markers? What's up with that?

If you don't own an Alley Cat/Thundercat/Puma/Bobcat, you're doing yourself a disservice. When you can get one to work, it is absolutely the best mechanical marker ever devised. On unregged CO2 with nice paint and a decent barrel, it can easily put rounds over the chrono at +-5fps or better. There is substantially less kick than other standard blowbacks and it puts Tippy's to shame in terms of accuracy, consistency and ergonomics. It has slightly more kick than a 'Mag, but far fewer o-rings, no fear of short stroking, it's lighter and thrives on straight CO2.

Yes, when they don't work, they can be a pain in the butt. Balancing the recock and velocity screws can be a fruitless exercise if several other criteria aren't met: proper mainspring strength, proper seals, proper rubber bumper size, proper amount of lube, proper valve seating, proper pressure from gas source, etc. I have 4 or 5 Alley Cats and only one is fully operational. I have another one that works fine but the jerk who sold it to me lost the detente spring and rounded out the ASA screw so I can't access the detente to replace the spring.

And if you like Desert Foxes, you have a screw loose. Like me. Sell me one. I've owned two and they were both junk, but I still want another one.

So who else like 'cats? I know you're out there.

There are still a lot of cat guys hidden out. Most of them are at MCB or icd-owners. Of course we drop by here from time to time. I've got a Panther, and am working a trade for a Puma. Still have not gotten a Fox, but that's only because some of our rank are greedy and have more than one.

I picked up a thundercat a few months ago and it is great. I love the recock/velocity/spring tension settings. There is nothing more priceless than shooting out some guy with a geo 2 with a 15 year old mechanical icd marker.

But yeah, you will see most the guys with mech ICD gear at ICDO and MCB.

Earlier this year I brought out one of my Puma's and I was using a PE HP tank at 850psi output, a Lapco Bigshot (.689), some white box paint and chrono'ing withint +-4 at least. It honestly seemed more consistent than some of my electo's that day.

You have a problem and need help. Send me the other 4.

It's official, you definitely have a problem. The good thing is, no one around here is going to help you. It's time to start going to meetings.
Hint: The first step is to admit you have a problem.

THERE SHALL BE NO FINGER POINTING! You've had plenty of chances to get in on the Rommel action. Like that $150 black one linked to a few weeks back. That wasn't a bad price for a decent looking '98.

Hush, you. If I had funds available, I would have pulled the trigger. I would think that with all I go through over at ICDO, you guys would just send me one as a thanks for all the blood, sweat and tears I have shed....

About fifty bucks, give or take depending on upgrades and condition.

yeah I'm here and I have a Puma and a question

see my topics : ICD PUMA & BOBCAT marker

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here under my problem :
I’ve got an Indian Creek Design ‘Panther’ (same as puma but in Europe) sleeping since 5 or 6 years in my cellar…
I’ve tested it with CO2 few years ago and it works very well.

Today I want to try to re-use it as back-up solution gun but with a Compressed Air Bottle that I used with another gun.
(I’ve also a Tippmann 98 and the place where I am playing only used Compressed Air)

I’ve recently verified all O-rings, put oil etc… everything seems alright.

Do you know if it is possible to use this marker with Compressed Air ?

No specific rereasons why you shouldn't be able to. As long as the seals are good and the marker is lubed should do just fine. Remeber, co2 is a harsher, nmore volitile gas than compressed air. Hpa systems also tend to be more uniform in gas dispersal, so if anything you'll see better constant velocity and constant chrono accuracy

It has to have sufficient pressure to operate the gun. My cats hate N2 unless it's at least 800psi output.

Forgot that all ICD markers including old freestyles need retarded amounts of pressure. This could be bad.

My Alley Cat runs just fine on HPA. Though some do need re-tuning to recock properly. CO2 is more energy dense, so for lighter HPA you might have to up the recock jet a bit.

Mine is a later double trigger Alley Cat DX which has a longer than normal vertical ASA. I believe that does give it more effective valve chamber volume, hence mine being more reliable with HPA. It might be best to run the tank bottom line with a gas through grip or small expansion chamber in the vertical ASA to give you more gas volume.

I just picked up an Alley Cat LT, I'm sure I over paid for it, but the green splash was too much for me. I'll post up some pics when it arrives.
Edit: Pics Are here!

I recently rescued a Thundercat that had been in a flood and sat in a box of dried mud for about 12 years. After a thorough cleaning and lube job it aired up and shot perfectly. It's my first ICD product and I can definitely understand why these things have the following they do.

Yeah, once you get the ICD blowbacks setup, they make Tippmans look like cheap pieces of crap as far as durability goes. My Panther is a tank. Weighs as much as one, too.
