I'll start a new thread if and when appropriate.

As mentioned by Apollo918, there is no obligation to play only in one 'conference'. Events should be planned in any case such that teams should be able to have 4 events per season minimum (plus nationals) accessible to them without a horrendous drive.

Considering we are a month away from the fall semester, we need to try to start getting some ideas as to who is hosting and what dates. At the moment there is no florida conference, so why dont we try to plan on at least the non-florida teams hosting in the fall? We can host a tournament, Georgia state and Georgia tech should also have bids to host, so why dont we see if we can start lining some things up?

I will talk to ken at PBC greenville sc and see if we can host a tournament around sept 24th if everyone is cool with that? maybe the GA teams can take october and novemeber so we can start getting things in the works, at least until we find out for sure about the FL conf. Obviously the only problem with this is going to be that FL doesnt get their own conf., but maybe then we can have a fl team trade so the events are spaced out.

Joe and the rest of the NCPA are fairly busy working on some stuff right now, but we expect to be ironing out some details within the next couple of days.

Well, so it's official there's going to be a split?

I really hate to be pessimistic, but I don't see a future for the Florida Conference. As I stated before, I don't feel that Florida has enough teams that are committed to playing each event to support its own conference. There are 6 teams off the top of my head that I can name from Florida and only two of which played every event. Over the next week I will be contacting the other schools and hopefully get an honest, and realistic answer if they would be willing to commit to every event. If even one or two teams can't make an event, this would mean that the teams competing will not receive the full amount of points for national ranking, or even cause a cancellation of the entire event itself.

I will also be talking to my team and if the future of the Florida Conference seems as dim as it currently does, we may end up traveling to the Mid-South Conference for the sake of being able to compete in the national standings.

I agree, i feel the Florida teams are mainly teams that are dedicated to other leagues like the Collegiate PSP, some of the CFPS and NPPL events. I know i've talked to a few schools personally and it doesn't sound like they are particularly ready for a full NCPA season even if it's in Florida.
If you have to make this split maybe the best idea would be to have a few Florida events and a few in the mid-south conference. You could then have a couple overlapping events where you can still have series points go towards your league. That way some teams that want the series points will attend the crossover events, while the teams that don't make the journey can still play in their more local league. If that all makes any sense

The way it is currently being envisioned would be two events further north in the new, mid-south region, two events in the Florida area (Florida/southern GA conference), and then two "shared" events that overlap between the two, making four events for each conference.

Collegiate PSP?

I will go along with whatever is decided but since I can I will say:

I suggest leaving the conference alone. Maybe make divisions instead like South and North... Host 3 at PBC. Host 3 at CFP. Host them on the same weekends so no one double dips. Host the conference championship in ATL so you can name a conference champ. Only the top three from each division should attend or something similar.

TN/SC/NC/GA macon and north to PBC(Maybe Greenville?)
FL and GA macon and south to CFP

Hi, I’m Garrett, from the USF paintball club just so you guys know.

I'd like for this to happen. 4 events. In the different parts of Florida as long as there is a facility that can host such an event. Lakeland, Miami, Orlando, and Tallahassee, that way some teams don’t have to make a super long drive every event.
Possible dates could be Oct 1st, Nov 19th, Jan 21st, and Mar 3rd. These dates do not conflict with any of the major tournaments, World Cup and NPPL Vegas, and does not conflict with the final CFPS event. Also, there is enough time after the march event for a week or two off, and teams can still practice all they need to get ready for Nationals in April-ish.

There are 11 teams listed in the state of Florida on the NCPA website.
1. Cuda paintball
2. Devry University Orlando
3. Embry Riddle University Eagles
4. FWBHS Paintball Team
5. Florida Atlantic University Owls
6. Florida Gulf Coast University Eagles
7. Florida State University Seminoles
8. University of Florida Gators
9. University of South Florida Bulls
10. University of Tampa Spartans
11. University of West Florida Argos

I’d say that we need two-thirds (8) of the teams to say that they would be willing to play 3 of the 4 events, with playing the NCPA division at Cup counting as one event.

Seem like a good enough idea. We would need an answer from NCPA whether this is happening or not. ASAP. Emailed to all of the current SACC teams, not just posted on the forums.

It's all linked up with APPA now, so you can check a listed team's activity right in the club list. When we put together the new site and club list, we cut out a bunch of inactive teams.

There are 3 options on the table:
Option 1 is a season such as what you've posted. Drive times average out for teams over the course of the season, but are generally around 3-4 hours.
Option 2 is have two Florida events and two events in Georgia, though they'd likely be northern GA and is probably too far for all the teams to commit.
Option 3 is to have the entire season at CFP (we have not approached CFP about this).

I like option 2 the least as I don't think more than half the teams would commit to it.

Joe

The only reason we wouldn't be able to play is just getting guys to front $180+ a person per event while also paying for their share of Cup and Nationals. We do get funds but those go towards Cup, where we can get a bye and entry to Nationals, and Nationals where it's legit Xball and you can get on tv.

I would have to see what my guys would want to do but it's just a matter of money. How far apart would the Florida Events be? How many teams?

I don't see much difference between option 1 and what I remember as the format before. It has been a few years though.

I like option 3. It will consolidate everything and is relatively easy to get to for everyone. Also, this will make things more consistent on the reffing and production end. Oh yeah, and excellent facilities.

Everyone needs to work together to make this efficient no matter what is decided. Lets communicate well about events so we can work out deals on hotels or maybe split gas. The economy is ugly right now.

Edit: Is UCF not playing?
