Calling All SACC (aka SEC AA) Teams

I would like to confirm which teams from last season are planning on participating in AA again next season. Once I hear from a team I will update the list bellow.

Teams confirmed for the 2011-2012 season

East Tennessee State
Florida Atlantic University
Florida Gulf Coast University
Florida State University
Georgia Southern University
Georgia Tech
University of Central Florida
University of Georgia

Teams I am waiting to hear from

East Carolina University
Eastern Kentucky University
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
Georgia State University
Mississippi State University
University of Florida
University of North Alabama
University of South Florida
University of Mississippi

Also, there are talks of creating an AA conference based in Florida in an effort to reduce travel costs for teams. If everyone could voice their opinions on the matter that would be great.

Depending on location, Liberty University may consider some SACC events.
We also plan on hosting a AA event on campus also.

For the upcoming season, we're likely going to do a Florida-only AA conference, and a Mid-South conference for the GA/TN/AL/MO teams. We should have enough attendance to have successful tournaments in both areas and cut travel costs for everyone involved.

We won't be playing in any AA anymore most likely. Due to how much more expensive the newer raceto format is now than it was before.

We'll try and keep the travel contained to the Florida area for Florida teams, so you shouldn't have to drive much more than 3-4 hours for an event, and often less. We always shoot for ~$150 per line and paint in the ~$50 or less realm.

Georgia Tech is planning on participating. It may change though seeing as our school cut our funding due to administrative issues. Hopefully it gets worked out though!

Enjoy your summers and hope to see everyone next semester!

Florida Gulf Coast University will be playing the upcoming season. I cannot yet speak on behalf of the entire team, but my personal opinion about the Florida Conference is as such:

From my standpoint, a large part of why I have enjoyed playing NCPA so much was in fact the travel and the new places, and new people met. I feel that if we were to play a Florida conference, it would just another CPFS for me.

Next, the team count. Off of the top of my head I can name, FSU, UF, FGCU, FAU, UCF. To the best of my knowledge, to recieve full points from an event, the event has to have 6 teams from 4 different schools. Granted, some schools will put in multiple lines, but honestly the conference would only really work and benefit the Florida teams, if all of the Florida were dedicates to playing every tournament. IMO

Little late getting in on this but apparently Devry in Orlando is starting a club. I can't commit to anything for them, but assuming they want to play NCPA that might be another team for a Florida conference. I remember when I played for the Citadel in 2002 - 2004 we spent A LOT of the time on the road for events. Good luck anyways.

EKU will be playing. a midsouth league would be awesome for us. the whole team feels torn between 2-3 different conferences just because our physical location is right on the border of 3 conferences.
