If you are trying to imply that we told all other teams that had been eliminated to come out and counter coach for us then you are mistaken. I'll cut you some slack being a small time player but if you knew us you would know we wouldn't do that. I hate that it was happening but it happens, it's (unfortunately) part of paintball.
People can make their own decisions, and I have more confidence in my team than you can imagine. We are a confident team that never feels like we are out of a match.
Thanks to all for the support.

Hey now, don't let that badge drown you in confidence.
And call me CRAZY, but from a subjective viewpoint, perhaps counter coaching occurred because some people don't like Long Beach and wanted them to lose, as opposed to rooting for Tennessee to win... As well as vice versa...
It's kind of dumb to expect a quiet finals game without some sort of audience/bleacher distractions... It happens every year.

Haha that's not happening because I had this confidence in my boys before I even went down to Florida. But you are right about the coaching its going to happen every year and every year there will be a big long thread about it during the finals match.

This. Annoys the piss out of me. One of the only draw backs I see year to year at an otherwise well run event.

I'm not going to lie, this was the first match in my 4 years of paintball with Tennessee that we weren't the ones facing the brunt of the crowd. We're usually in the same spot that CSLB was in, having spectators try to rattle you because you're hated for some reason.
It sucks it happened, but I can't remember a Class A finals match where it hasn't happened. As for the crowd and the fake buzzer, the game buzzer was behind the start box. We could also hear the crowd at our start box, and even as far as our pit. Yes, I'm sure it was louder on the CSLB side, as the crowd was primarily gathered on their side, but when I took my eyes off the clock at 2 seconds to get ready, I knew that the real buzzer would sound a split second after the crowd's. If anything, it alerted me to be even more ready to start the point. However, I don't know how this affected the guys on the other side of the field.
With that being said, the match was still very heated and hard fought every second that we were battling it out on the field, regardless of what the crowd did. CSLB got us early and often, backing us into a corner that we had to dig ourselves out of. We were forced to make some adjustments and we put it all out on the line to win 4 quick points, and luckily for us, it worked. CSLB played a great, fair game all weekend, and I'm not sure where the hostility lies for these guys. Congratulations to CSLB for their second straight 2nd place showing at nationals. They're a very consistent team who are a force to be reckoned with. They played us harder than anyone else did all weekend. As a graduating senior, this was a great way for me to finish my college paintball career, and even though I won't be on the college field next year, I'm extremely excited to see what the future holds for both Tennessee and CSLB...hopefully a second straight EPIC national title match.

I think this had a lot to do with the crowd behavior, more so than being a member of the solo cup clan.

I guess we can congratulate CSLB and Tennessee...every great team is going to have haters. Just shows that you are doing something right.

Why is beer sold at professional sporting events and why do people tailgate for college football games?

Because this is college, and the majority of players are <21.
As for football, that's a different story because actual people watch football, unlike paintball where the only spectators are... other paintball players. Truefact.
I see what you mean by WHY, as in, for the same reason as pro sports, but we have to bear in mind that this isn't pro sports.

What did beer do to anyone other than make the finals way more exciting?

And being slightly more serious...
Guns don't kill people
Spoons don't make you fat
Alcohol didn't do anything, it was the people drinking it making their own decisions

Sam?
I'm pretty sure this was Southern.. We were watching footage of the games last night and saw that. You see the guy from the other team look down the snake from our snake player's side and we were like freaking out. That was pretty nuts.

Let me be more specific. Why is underage drinking allowed at paintball events?

There is a fine line between decisions people make while sober vs while drunk.
