Patent help.

I'm in the process of producing a quality gun, but noticed that everything that is generic in paintball is patented. The idea of a paintball gun is patented. How the heck do I get around this without paying off the owners of the patents.

Patent help I'd talk to a lawyer. Or do some searching on google.

You did what? Talk to a lawyer? If so, what did he say? Chances are, your going to have to go to a manufacturer and "sell" them your idea under their patent. That way they make, sell, and distribute the item. Also helps to get a little branding behind your product. In example, The Tippmann "your gun name here". Catch what I'm saying?

I went through a list of thousands of paintball related patents, sorting which ones applied to me. I will be applying to a temp patent. I am not selling my ideas.

Paintball patents are rarely enforced and when a company does it results in horrible backlash from the community.

If you produce a quality marker then people will buy it and the design will be attributed to you.

How many people copied the intimidator design? Yet bob long is still in business and is doing quite well.

Bob long doesn't have a patent for the intimidator, only the Marq...

But yeah I know what you mean, I've researched and found a list of every paintball patent out there, I will be using that as a source to keep my head out of any chopping block. (kee)

Most paintball companies(Other than douche bag smart parts) only hold patents simply so companies like douche bag smart parts DONT have them. If that makes any sense.

Very true. I'm not worried about being sued.

If complications ever did occur i'd say that either selling the design to said company or just bailing on it all together would be your best bet, they probably have some pretty damn good lawyers.

Im more afraid of them taking my company to court and having the funds well above what I can match.
