I think the pressure from the sand would cause the paint to dimple. Especially since paint will dimple from its own weight if you let it sit in the same position for too long. If it was brittle paint then maybe even crack.
I've heard of people refrigerating their paint then putting it in a cooler and leaving it like that in the shade and it worked, but I don't know how long that would work in ATL weather. Maybe just refrigerate the paint, then put it in a cooler with two ice packs on the ends- again not touching the paint directly. Should work. I would make sure you're not refrigerating the paint too cold though. You'd probably get condensation which would cause paint to swell or stick together in your hopper if it was like 85+ out.
