Messed up

Let's get it together today guys! I'm speaking on behalf of our D3 bracket that played last. Not only did we wait around for half of the day, but our field ran 2 hours behind schedule. Most of us were screwed cause we played in the dark with no lights??? Only to call off the remainder of games cause it was too dark. The decision to call off the games should have been made an hour sooner. Seems like couple of the refs were just pulling guys and calling "one for one" penalties just to hurry up and get out of there. I must have watched 4 games that the snake corner just got hit, and the ref closest to him called a penalty for playing on. Now before making comments, I was a certified NPPL ref, certified by Dan Perez. I understand that calls may get blown from time to time, but it should be consistent.
We love the NPPL, but this event has by far been the worst we've attended for the past 5 years. Come on NPPL...

That in fact is the NPPLs fault for allowing too many teams to be registered.

yup. when you market your event as oversold a few weeks before closing registration you're bound to have issues. call me ignorant but i also never realized there were only 3 fields at a NPPL event (i've never played one, go figure). i'd imagine with the 5 or so divisions they run you'd see four fields up.

The whole thing is that NPPL wants to make money while not having to spend too much. Adding a 4th field would make them spend. So they tried to squeeze teams in and force them to play in one day. not gonna happen. especially when the pros used main field all day, not like before where the lower divisions used the main field. thats actually what happened. so yur division only had really 2 fields to play on.

D1 was playing on the main field before an after the pro games and went all the way until dark. Having things run on time for ESPN is more important than trying to squeeze more games on the field.

I can only speak for our field but the games have been on time, reffing has been amazing and the NPPL staff have been very accommodating.

Maybe they should have had one more field, but I would much rather see the league make money and stay around if it means I have to play a few games under lights.

So we were told that the reason it was running behind 2 hours is cause they capped the ROF so the games will go slower. I call bulli****. Half of the players in the NPPL can't even shoot that fast, so you cant blame the ROF cap on running the tourney late.

People gotta stop playing so much xball if they can't hit 15. That's sad.

Most pro back players and even front players can shoot close to or even 20+.

Maybe the celebrity games they had on center court shouldn't have ever happened and play games that actually matter.

the games that were called off didn't even get any points to them. So some teams had 8 games of points and put them in a higher position than others only got 7 games. I think thats BS since this really messes up who plays who...

dont rag on him guys.... i was one of the guys playing on field 3(last game before they called it actually) against DBS.

and i agree with the OP for the simple fact on the field was so dark that we basically were all seeing a dark outline of the guy's head and couldnt see paint, lanes, could barely see furhter away bunkers. it was kinda bad.

even after the game ended it took us a while to pack up in the pits cuz we needed to keep turning the sceens of our phones on every 5 seconds using em as flashlights to find all our gear to put away.

now likewise... i played a night game on saturday on field 3 (they had lights on field 3) and it was amazing!! the field was lit more with the lights up than during the day when it was overcast. if they had lights on field 3 or moved us to a different field with lights there would have been no problems at all.

Yeah, we had our ***** handed to us, but that had nothing to do with it. Everyone that played the late set were complaining, not just me. D3 for the past few years, yeah. That's how it is when you only enter 1 tourney every 2 years. Yeah, I play that less then the rest of the team.
It's funny that you always need to hide behind the computer. Create a new screen name cause you're a little *****! You need to know me personally to know my company name and that it's associated with Tropix. I've said this before, and I'll say it again. I'm a fighter first, baller last. Quit being a little ***** and come out and play! Talk ****, get hit!

SAY again?we know you are from hawaii , hence your location (808)and you probably didnt do good(your crying told us so). So if you arent the 5 man team thats "in the money" then your most likely to be on the losing d3 team with hawaii's own premier 7 man team getting a new one...UURAH! carry-on sojah!

Back on topic...

I thought there were plenty of fields. I also thought there was plenty of time to get games in before dark. There just needs to be more emphasis on getting a quick turnaround between all the games. I also thought the lighting on field 2 was great. If they could put that level of lighting on two fields, the games could go as late as they had too and nobody could complain.

Our team played 3 of our prelim games in very dark conditions, and it did suck, but the other team is playing in the dark as well...
