So folks have a source for solenoids? I've got one that came with a chewed wire which finally broke before my final build, and I'd rather replace the 'noid entirely.

Solenoids have to be matched to pilot bodies. If you just buy a solenoid, there's a very good chance it won't work right. MTX is basically out of business, so properly binned replacement solenoids aren't going to happen. I wish I had a better answer than this.

Same thing happened to mine, I was able to get inside the noid an rewire it.

It was an mq1, but I dont think that matters.

Mike got married, had a couple of kids, and was given a significant promotion at his day job. I moved to new england and have a real job now. Neither of us really have the time or inclination to work for $15 an hour putting valves together. Life happens, I guess.

Manufacturing tolerances of the solenoid and plunger assembly. There's a fairly narrow range of pilot lift that actually works.

does this mean no more final run of ~20 valves? or no more after the last run of ~20?

I have an MQ 2 that needs a noid plunger spring .LMK if the century spring model Stock Number: II-21 is same spring used in the MQ2 as it was used in the MQ 1 but I want to be sure before ordering seeing as there is a 40 unit Minimum .

Also Noids: If you've sheared the wires beyond repair, or just don't want to mess with soldering. You can order a new solenoid from
Magnetic Sensor Systems. The part is not in their catalog, so you'll likely need to email them. The part number is S-10-50-30PBX and it's $49. We all known they were case/binned .Pull the noid and look at the number of bands ,4=Bin 4 5=Bin 5 Ect and place your order

Is magnetic sensor systems supplying binned solenoids? I don't think we've ever disclosed what the measurements of the bins were (not proprietary, just never had a reason). Also, I we had to modify a few bin 4 bodies into bin 3. You would identify this by looking for bare aluminum on the face where the front of the solenoid sits.
I don't have the part numbers for anything handy right now.

What I posted about noids was a copypasta from Custom Cockers but the post was fairly recent!

LMK about the spring when you have a chance .

I go for about $100 an hour these days. Still cheaper than a good looking hooker!

I don't know when the final run will happen. I'm pretty busy right now.
