Whenever you do packing lists for deployment or GRF if you're unit you go to is on GRF then they'll have 'winter boots' on the packing list and even though you'll likely never wear them it's good to have a pair just in case.. so just save the money and keep them.
Myself.. I just throw in whatever extra boots I have and call them my winter boots even if they're not and they don't give a **** but that's because I've been here long enough for them to not give a ****... more of a common sense type of packing thing for most people.. except new guys

When my unit was on GRF we did layouts every other week or every month or some gay **** but it was still a 'pack what you think you need' type of thing.. of course there were some things that were absolutely required but they turn a blind eye if you don't have some bull**** piece that they know isn't essential

And you're not going to hear anything but rumors while in Airborne school.. at least when you're in the 82nd like myself you are around people that have actually been through it

Cool. I appreciate it. You know what pipeline I'm on and it'll probably be mostly full of rumors. I know they're allowing more and more boots these days. And since hopefully I won't be at the 82nd or whatnot, I appreciate your insight.

Make sure you are hot on your **** for land nav before you go. Day and night spread out over a good distance. Train up on terrain association as well. You won't get peered out if people like you AND you pull more than your own weight. You need to be a physical beast before you go. Crossfit like a mother ****er.

I haven't had too much experience with Land Nav. I used to do some when I was in the Marine OCS program that they created. Terrain association I've got a pretty good knack on. I'd like to think I can work well on a team and hopefully my peers are alright. Don't think I'll ever be a "physical beast." I'm 6'4'' and 165lbs. But I do enjoy CrossFit and do a lot of the "military oriented" programming and WODs.
Deadly: I don't think the final one is 40 miles. I believe that's the rumored final examination for CAG.
Under: Yes, the Q.

Actually this is right it is for CAG not selection.. I heard it from my buddy who went through selection.. just now thought about what he said and he said he wanted to do the 40 mile landnav test..
edit: at least at 6'4" you should be a ruckmarch beast

There is an exert from the book 'Kill Bin Laden about fury's time at Cag Selection. Dude was dropping batteries from his flashlight to save on weight. Didn't work out well when he couldn't see the next night. I'd guess that you will move close to 100-150 miles during your 2 weeks there, to include PT and what not. You'd have to ask josh. (primo)
