Exactly how I felt.. no motivation after basic/airborne to do ****.. but now that I've been in the 82nd for awhile I feel like this is the best place to at least try and advance my career somehow.. (home of SF.. pretty much can go to selection or ranger school whenever the **** you want)
...I still don't really regret dropping from RASP but i sometimes think what it would be like if I had stayed in.. my battle buddy from basic is in 1st batt.
Apparently life in the 75th sucks ******* until you get your tab so at least I skipped out on that suckfest of like a year lol

They're light and comfy but fall apart easy
Why you just asked a basic trainee I don't know
I wouldn't jump in them that's for sure (airborne school since that's where he's at)

I jumped him once in airborne... I dont jump them here.
I prefer T8s. They last longer and have more support.

theyre probably the most common non issue boot here. i have tried them on and theyre super light like the rocky trainers. its just preference between the two. people are also liking the new balance OTBs too. i might buy a pair of Nikes for the hell of it.
and my second cycle in basic we were allowed to wear non issue boots, so i have put a few different boots through a little abuse, pal!
-and im not really a **** bag so i dont think ill have too much of an issue at my unit. if i get smoked for random stuff, then who cares. its not like ive never been smoked before. i get it, im a cherry private.

Fall apart? What about getting them "Ripple Soled?" I've heard ripple sole is very nice and very durable.
I have a buddy in the Q who said everyone he saw in SFAS was wearing the Nike's just because they're light. But he also mentioned something called the "SOPC Special" where they take out the heel cups and add a ripple sole or something? Anyone?

I don't know but a **** load of people in my unit wear them and I often hear about them falling apart too soon. The fact that they FEEL like tennis shoes probably says something about their structure/integrity whatever the **** you want to call it
I personally wear Garmont T8's and have seen others with T8's 2+ years old through deployment/ranger school whatever that look like **** but still hold together perfectly

The Nike's out of the box suck dick as far as construction just like the Oakleys.. but if you do whatever 'aftermarket' **** to them then I don't know.. I'd imagine they'd put the new sole on better than the sweat shops
edit: Then again if I were to go to selection suckfest I'd probably do exactly that.. buy a light as **** boot, take heel cup out and put on a ripple sole.. wouldn't use it for 'regular' **** though

Yea, I ask for primarily just that. Just concerning getting me through SFAS.
edit: and that's what he said. They were destroyed by the end of the 3 weeks, but they got through selection comfortably.
