High School paintball team question

Heyy guys!

If anyone is on a paintball team at their school, I was just curious as to how you bring your markers in to school. Before school starts and you drive yourself to school, right? How is security at your school with paintball equipment in mind?

Also, how would I go about starting a paintball team at my school? What are some good argument points to bring up with school administrators?

Thanks! (:

First off, its a bad idea to bring your paintball gun to school, period. Even if its in your car, it could cause a school lock down. Last thing you want. Are you looking to get paintball to be a school sanctioned sport? If so, you better be going to a rich school. Paintball is pricey, and that price goes up when you get into tourny ball. Pallets of paintballs are at least $5,000 for tourny grade paint, not to mention the cost of entry fees. Its easier if other schools around the area have a team as well. In my opinion, its impossible. Colleges have paintball teams, only because YOU pay for the sport. They just let you put their name on it, example South Dakota State University Paintball Team. Its always worth a shot, a good point is how safe the sport is. 1 player in every 4000 is injured, unlike with football, 7 in every 1000. But football is also cheap.

Thanks for the answer. I would NEVER bring my paintball marker to school so you don't have to worry haha. I think its impossible to. Never heard of a school having that much money to spend on athletics. Great idea just not realistic unfortunately ):

you might be able to make a club that receives some money. it wont be like football but most clubs get some money and you could do school sanctioned fund raisers

Ok first off DON'T bring the marker till you talk with administration. That being said talk to your administration. See if you can get them to support your team. If they can come up with some sort of reasonable procedure for storing the stuff follow what they say. If it helps I am a teacher working on putting a team together at my school. Feel free to contact me or have the school contact me (if you need I'll get you my personal info in a pm).

What I did was actually make a team based out of my county, and only schools within the county could have students try out. This, in turn, gave the team broader options for funding and a larger player base.

Does anyone know if Canadian high school teams can participate in the NCPA high school division? I've been trying to get a team together, we have the principals approval and about 6 or 7 guys willing to play. Where do we go from here?

You don't do any of this. If you want to make a team, do it on your own time. There's no point in bringing your guns to school, as there is no school that will let you practice on the grounds. Not to mention you'll be disciplined harshly.
Your school cannot stop you from making a team, as long as you don't associate the school with it.

Mike actually made a video regarding this subject on his YouTube channel but basically you can get a group of your friends that play paintball and go paintball in since you don't need any administrative permission to go paintballing. You can buy jerseys, guns, etc that are in your school colors but I would stay away from using logos even though at the high school level it probably does not matter. Then after a couple of years doing this and you get good publicity you can go to your administrator and ask if you could be recognized as a club. But Mike made a good point about by the time you do all that you will be graduating soon. Hope this helps.

With all of the BS with guns going around....trying to get your school involved in anything paintball related is just asking for trouble. Hell when I was in school, we had a poker club.....for a total of 1 week. Then they deemed it as "gambling"....because we didn't use chips....or anything. We used pieces of paper..... Hell, they even did away with euchre club (i loved that club)....

Basically, think of it this way. No school is going to go for it. Most administrations are a bunch of tight ***, misinformed people, who only care about football, baseball, and girls volleyball. They might raise an eyebrow at the fact that paintball has the word "ball" in it...but once they realize your shooting projectiles at each other.....they will call Obama, and hell slam you with the ban hammer.

I've never seen a school with a shooting club, or archery club (there was one in Texas.....but cmon...its ****ing Texas) You can pitch it all you want, but they will never go for it. I can garuntee that in your student handbook, there is something about an object that "shoots" a projectile. And yes, you can get suspended or expelled for flicking rubber bands with your pencil. Paintball falls into the category of "shooting a projectile" Its grounds for expulsion.

You could show them all of the saftey stuff you want, but what it comes down to is you are SHOOTING other students. Its still a paintball "gun"....and most people, like ive said....don't care. At all. We're a bunch of crazy kids, running around, playing a game of grabass with guns shooting pretty colors.....

My highschool suspended me for having a PB2X magazine....that I was bringing in to a TEACHER...so he could flip through it because he was genuinely interested in the sport....and actually came out and played one weekend....then got put on administrative leave for socializing with students outside of the classroom, because he brought it up to another teacher in the teachers lounge.... In which that teacher had his sons birthday party at my local field, and I got to ref that party all day. BUT one of the tight *** history teachers caught wind of it, and told someone about it....and He was instantly a child molester.....dafuq is wrong with people.

I do realize why he got in trouble...because who knows...he could have been touching all of our "naughty spots"...w/e...he was cool, and he still is cool, because he still plays, and so do his kids.

NOW!.....since we've covered the "why itll never happens"....lets cover the "why they MIGHT"

they wont.

But Ill still give you the what for.

It would take....ONE HELL of a pitch to get them to even take a look at it. Basically a VAST majority of the student base (over 80%), along with Multiple teachers, either a parent (or group of parents) willing to coach, store the equipment, source everything...ect. as well as possible involvment of local police, field owners, and possibly government officials.

You would need to get everyone on the same page. Find a field to back the idea, give you a place to play, even offer some sort of sponsorship right off the rip. You'll need teachers to back you as well, as coaches, or even just a "figurehead" to lead the group, but they will have to know ALOT about what the sport is about. A parent base of EVERYONE who wants to be a part of this to back the idea, and they will need to visit district meetings to pitch the idea to the whole group of administrators, just to show and prove that this could be something real. As far as the (80%) of students.....good luck getting the preppy Ugg wearing whores to back it....if it doesn't involve Justin Beiber, and pumpkin spice coffee.....they wont even talk to you. Period. You'll basically have to have EVERYONES support on this. Which is hard to do because no one gives a **** about paintball....

All of your eggs are going to have to be in multiple baskets....and all those baskets will have to be in one baskets. In all this effort, what it comes down to is that to them...its still a gun.....its still shooting other students....and there is no other school around you that does it. So there is no way to make money on it.....There is no way to make the school look better because their "star snake player" made a hell of a move and won the game winning point.
Your basically asking them to condone and back inflicting pain on other students. (which is what football is....but this is 'Murica....and we play fooseball in 'Murica)

I would say wait until college.....By the time you even get them to think about maybe considering it, but still denying it, you'll be graduated, with a wife and 7 kids.

Just get your friends together and play paintball man. Wear your jersey to school, tell your friends how much of a badass you are.....get *****es.

Sorry to bust the bubble but it will never happen. Paintball is basically an underground sport. Its not in the xgames (yet), not in the olympics.....its hardly televised....No one gives 2 ****s about it....

Unless your "dean" or head administrator has played....then you might have something to work with.

I do wish you the best. Happy playing.
