Pipeline is instructor jargon for a school or series of schools needed before getting a MOS/whatever and going to your first command as whatever specialty the education is for.

It depends on quite a few factors. But generally most will be a short tour (1 year) or long tour (3-4 year).

Alright if this doesn't get deleted...

What is a typical work day for most airmen?.. From what my buddy has told me in the past (F-15) crew-chief.. his schedule is basically like a 'regular' work schedule with shifts and ****.. are most of you guys set up this way?

..And also does his own PT since they apparently don't do PT together..

There is no typical day for flightline maintenance. There has to be 24 hour coverage so you could work any of the 3 shifts. Depending on the base and workload, you could work anywhere from 7-13 hour shifts normally. Again, depending on the unit and workload, your PT will normally be on your own accord with an occasional squadron or flight workout.

Do you guys actually have pilots flying during the wee hours of the night and morning? Or do you just have that extra shift to take care of maintenance before the next morning?

Panama shifts, FTMFW. Like akruse said, there's no regular **** for flightline. I've been on night shift the past 3yrs. No brass to worry about.

In the case of the F22 and its current grounding, all 4 shifts are just to catch up on maintenance. We used to have 6 shifts...got so ****ing confusing.

I love the peace and quiet that's been going on here since the grounding.
