I have a good bit of side to side play in mine too. I don't mind a ridiculously sloppy trigger, though.

It actually has no play. I have a 2K5 frame and it fits snug, almost too much. Gets stuck sometimes

If anything I'd get a new frame and board. The 2k2 frames are gi-normous

hopefully my 2k5 frame gets here soon curious if the 2k2 front block barb is going to be an issue with this frame, if so time to sell more spare parts and pick up a 2k5 block.

It's really not much taller than any 2k5 frame if you measure it. A quarter inch maybe?

Very, VERY different. Thickness, overall shape. I hated timmies for the longest time thinking they only came in stupid humpback huge frames

It's certainly strange to readjust to a 2k2 frame after shooting my Darq for a year. And yet, somehow, it's plenty comfortable. I've got a 2k5 frame and board I could put on my project here, but that might screw up the whole retro look I've got going on.

yeah, ive only owned 2k5 framed timmies until this species. not saying it isnt comfortable since i havent played with it, but just seems different. also i'm not really going for the classic look with it, so it doesnt matter what the frame and frontblock are year wise. i'd just love to have a matching blue to black empire frame but dont know if anyone has one

As I sit here looking at both frames, height and grip location are the only difference. I'll take that minute height difference for the length it gives any day of the week.

Play with it at least once before you bash it and put a mis-matched frame on it, but to each his own I guess..
