One story is boarding school/boot camp. I guess Earl's mom found out about his music and didn't like it. But, I read that Earl didn't go anywhere, he still goes to the same high school and stuff, his mom just forbade him from hanging out with the rest of them. Also, I guess Earl's mom really hates Tyler, who is her step son.
