To place them on the same price point as Oakley goggles.

thats retarded as ****. charge more just so you can seem better, yet your higher tech paintball goggles with a lot more material and machining and packaging costs 1/2 the price.

that right there is going to make me not want any snow dye stuff, unless its free.

what they did is tried to compete with the big dogs right out of the gate. I personally would not pay Oakley price for a brand that has no reputation in the industry and has still yet to be proven. personally, i would have went more towards what Zeal did. they made really high end goggles, but they priced them more towards 80 bucks. this was cheap for a polarized goggle and it was not to high to prevent people from trying them out. I see people still buying Dye, but not enough for them to take off. why would i pay that much for a company who has just started making goggles. i would pay that much for Oakley only because i know they have been around enough that their **** is going to do its job.

I totally agree.

It's Business Operations 101. You don't enter a saturated market with a high end product meant to compete with companies that have been producing the same product for years. You enter with a lower end price point product, build your reputation as a valuable addition to the market, and then release your big gun high end later down the road.

I don't see them being very successful. With their current business model, I don't see them being the Oakley they want to be.

I agree they are on the high side of what people would pay for a new goggle, but if they have the right people backing them, and with some good marketing and above all, a good product, they can be successful.

I think they are on the right track with marketing. They are at SIA in Denver right now with a booth set up. That alone can spread the word pretty rapidly.

They also have 2 team riders in the X Games.

I think they did the right thing by offering 2 (3?) price points in their goggle line, though i think each of them should be lowered by about $50.

Their approach is good. I support it.

The average consumer won't know that Dye is brand new to snow and with it being priced right around oakley's, all they'll be checking for is high quality and features they want.

could you explain their approach to me? and i feel like anyone willing to spend around the 200 dollar range is going to know that dye is new to the market, seeing how they have only one model out and every other large company has loads more. second, when you are looking at anything dye, how many reviews are you going to see for their goggles or how many people have you seen wearing them? yeah, i'm sure people are just going to think that they have been there forever.

Looking through their goggles now, I like the way they look. They're different than the normal framed goggles. But, like you said, they can't expect people to shell out that much money from the get go.

I like the way they look too, but I'm not dishing out $200+ on goggles from the new kid on the block. It'd make more sense if they had some kind of discount for their first batch of users to get a stable consumer base and then with the help of word of mouth, it'll take off from there...

I agree with you on most of that, but they have 2 models. The T1 which has been released and the CLK which hasnt been released yet. I actually like the CLK more than the T1
