If you're talking about taking the BCAA before training (if you're doing it fasted), Martin says quite a few times that it should be consumed 5-15 minutes prior to training.

After my fasted workout today I consumed a 1400 calorie meal...felt great. Only took me 20 minutes or so, as well...I'm getting faster. Was:

400g chicken
3-egg omelete with cheese
2 cups brown rice (cooked)
2 Bananas
Fiber 1 Bar

37g Fat, 180g Carbs, 167g Carbs (146 net), 111g protein, 21g Fiber.

Last night I tried mixing a little tub of Greek Yogurt in a bowl with protein powder, and then froze it...tasted great. Usually I just mix the two then eat it straight as my final before-bed meal, but the frozen variety takes a bit longer to eat, feels more satiating, and just kind of tastes better too haha. I realize the concept of "frozen yogurt" has been around for quite some time and that this isn't news, but anyone who's consuming Greek Yogurt with a flavored protein should give this a shot...I threw in another mixture for this afternoon. Last night's had a decent sweetness to it, but in this bowl I threw in some splenda...will post back with results.

I've often wondered the same thing. Aren't all of the carbs from milk sugars?

Lactose is a disaccharide, therefore a carbohydrate.

Lactose carbs arent the best for cutting on a low carb diet (I.e lean gains off days)

Um...not to contest anyone, but that just seems to really, really be reading into it I keep my carbs at least under 30-40g on my off days, and don't eat any direct sources of carbs. I mean, if a 1/2 cup or a cup of milk will fit into that macronutritional figure, sure, why not? I just can't see a cup of milk making you retain 2lbs that you would have lost when you're cutting at what...1600 calories? I think you'll be okay.

What kind of cut are you doing? If you're just doing LG just cut carbs down to the least on off days an eat lighter than normal carbs on off days.

Like WS , I totally agree. They aren't great carbs but I don't think that will make or break your cut.

I want to make sure that I'm reading this correctly; will this plan work?

Lifting days
  • 10 PM- last feeding.
  • Wake up at 9 am, go to class etc.
  • Gym at 1 pm.
  • Break fast 30 minutes after the gym with a protien shake.
  • 90 minutes after the gym, have first and largest meal of the day.
  • Then taper meals until 10 PM.

Is there anything that should be shifted around? Thanks guys.

Drink some BCAA's (xtend for example) before your workout.

Thanks, I'll probably pick some up this weekend. Is the serving size recommended on the package a good standard?

1-1.5 scoops is what I use, but I may play around with more

Good deal.

I'm going to use thermogenics with this as well. Using Animal Cuts, would I be better off to do the two packs a day like they recommend or would it be better to take one pack a day and use them for a longer period?

Follow the instructions that Animal gives you on the package...your workout and dietary schedule should not change the dosage you take in daily.

Damn it, I already picked up the Animal pack. I'll get ECA here in three weeks when I'm done with the Animal.

Make sure to do just a little research around on ECA before buying the necessary components...it's not as straight-forward as directions on a box.
