Get it dude!

My ray loves his big tank. He's been shuffling around the bottom leaving the most adorable foot prints and now he's jetting around the tank exploring. Sure, the lights are off and he probably feels safe, but he looks happy!

i'd love too, but i don't have the funds. i bought a lot of stuff this past week, and unfortunately none of it was fish related, so i have to be mr. frugal for a while.

office depot had a 30% coupon so i went ahead and bought a new computer desk, so that was pretty much my entire "fun money" amount for the month.

I can't knock it, a new desk is a nice thing. Mine is still in my garage.

Got a few pictures of the big tank with it's new inhabitants. I still can't decide what route to take with this tank, especially since another ray will be in there for a few months. Maybe some clown loaches + my blue botias? I don't know.

What's the minimum tank size for a ray?

Depends on the ray. Mine (Reticulated) maxes at 14" for females and 12" for males, so 120/125 is recommended life long habitat for them. Motoros, however, max at 39". They need, probably, 500+ gallons for a life long habitat. I have mine (2 tomorrow) in a 180 gallon (72"x24"x24") and he has SO MUCH ROOM FOR ACTIVITIES!

In other news, the female should be here tomorrow. My guy is hand feeding and very trusting of me now. I ****ing love it. I haven't watched TV since I got him, I just come home and watch him or, now, feed him after work by hand.

So turns out the "female" ray I got was an underdeveloped male. I called the LFS at 1852 and they said bring him in and they will return it. They close at 1900.

I brought him in at 1910 and we made the swap and placed the order for a REAL female. They gave me (2) 8" bichirs, an 8" black ghost, and a 5" bushynose pleco. That sure balances it out, I've still got $20 in store credit too

He tried to convince me to get an 8" arrowana, no way. I explained my tank size and he retracted his arguement. They did have an awesome royal knifefish, but he was pretty pricey.

wtf man i dont know any place that gives stuff out like that...lucky bastard.

and are you former military? the only people i know that use military time on the regular are all my marine and airforce buddies.

royal knives rule but you will pay out the *** for a nice one. if you live in florida there are a few bodies of water you can catch them in, though. they are super rare now since a chill killed most of them off but people still occasionally get them

edit: finally going to get some time to rescape my 5.5 this weekend. i have about 2 times the anubias nana in there than i want so i need to do something for my micro swords to expand. i dont want to toss them since they are some of the nicest nanas i have seen so hopefully ill find room in my larger tank.

Yeah, I got really lucky. They know I'm going to keep coming back though, that's for sure. I'm active air force.

Yeah royals are awesome, clowns are cool too. They had a pretty big one (10+") for $75. I like the black Ghost, hopefully I can get him eating better.

I need to do some aquascaping in my big tank. It's pretty bare right now, just a few plants.

edit: I need to get some massivore too. That should provide the sustenance needed for these big guys.
