I bet. I can't wait to get my big tank setup and to get this salt tank finished.

The goby is just hiding, I hope he's okay.

Also, I'm pretty ****ing sure I'm allergic to these reef crystals. My skin ****ing burns

I hate you so much Colin. I've got 4 tanks sitting at home and you're making me want to set them up immediately! Once my fiancee and I move however, all bets are off and those tanks are going up the moment we move in.

****ing do it man, and post pictures !!! What sizes? What are your plans for them?

So, I got pissed at my lobster so I threw him in the new 180g. The water is at like 70F, which is more than fine since his temp range is like 34F to 85F. My plan backfired. He ****ing LOVES it in there

I got tired of waiting and grabbed some seachem clarity and stability. I'm going to use a tiny bit of clarity in the saltwater tank (no corals, just a couple snails and a goby) and a larger amount in my big tank. I'm not sure why, but the water isn't perfectly clear still! The stability is a lengthy dose process, so I'm glad I bought more.

I got worried about the goby in there and I tried to pull him out (the water got cloudy again ), but he seems to be fine. LFS assured me he has evolved to filter sand and ****, so cloudy water isn't a problem. I am truly concerned about why big guy acts all ****ed up in there. Any ideas? I'm honestly out of thoughts.

FIGURED IT OUT!!!!!

I just shocked the living **** out of myself when I touched a plastic valve on my protein skimmer. That, in turn, set the protein skimmer into overdrive (normal) and the filters are working MUCH better.

So now I need to find where that stray voltage is coming from. I believe its coming from the in tank filter, the cord was draped over that filter. I wonder how I can fix it.

This could possibly be the cause of my arms burning so badly and me feeling sick.

I ordered a grounding probe and I'm going to try to get my hands on a voltmeter tomorrow. Hopefully I can track down this power leak. I'm sick of getting shocked.

I turned everything off and plugged an aerator in from another power source. I put the sailfin back in and all is well in his world. He's eating and exploring and all that good stuff.

Seriously though, allergic reaction + good dose of electricity = me wanted 1 less tank

2 X 10 gallons, a 28 gallon, a 55 gallon and then I forgot about another 9 gallon I have. Definitely salt for the 28 but I'm also considering turned the 55 into salt.

What kind of heater(s) do you have in there? A lot of times stray voltage will come from the heater. Have you been fragging zoas or been around someone fragging zoas at all? It's a longshot with that, but zoas excrete a chemical that can make people sick.

Do the 28 and the 55 salt then

I think it is the heaters honestly, everything else is name brand. Fluval 406 filter and fluval pump. They were kind of bottom shelf heaters from amazon. I think I'm going to replace them with fluval heaters. It could be the heater leaked and salt water is a fantastic conductor of electricity. I'm tempted to pull that heater out and try it again. 4 shocks is enough for me tonight.

I'm concerned on not having my protein skimmer running, but it's better than electrical shock.

It's funny you mention that, I was going to run 2 of these, if not 3, in my 180. http://www.amazon.com/EHEIM-Jager-Aq...m+jager+heater

Is that the heater you are referring to? My LFS said they will beat amazon on it.

Also, the 180 is ready for starter fish. I read a partial fishless cycle works very well. I think I should just leave them in there and call it done

Tank size comparison next to my 180lb 20 month old great dane and 55" LED TV box.

LFS called me.
The owner said, "Hey, I still owe you for that ****ed up fish right?"
Me, "yeah, but he's pretty healthy. It's okay."
Him, "Nope, **** that. Can you come by right now?"
Me, "On my way." (I literally was getting out of my office and heading to my car while I was talking to him)
Him, "Okay, I've got your repayment"

Here is how he repayed me:

They are ****ing BEAUTIFUL. I took the picture right after I put them in that bowl (before moving them to the quarantine tank). They are back to brilliant blue. 6 botias, I paid for 2. That's customer service. 6 botias, 11 eyes. It's all good

I wonder if 3 will be enough for a 180. I think it says up to 75g for a 300, so the math adds up.

He's a big moron, but I love him

Yeah, these guys look great. A few months younger than the other two, but still around 3.5"

What temp is your house typically? On average?

If you're only trying to bring the water up a couple of degrees you should be fine.

http://www.amazon.com/Finnex-Aquariu..._petsupplies_5

Think that is gonna be the light for my 75 gallon.

Got to get some glass to make the lids when I get back to GA.

i changed my mind on the exodons, now i want shell dwellers. i watched a bunch of vids about them today and damn they are cool. im not big on african cichlids but those things are pretty awesome. require a lot less space than a school of exo's too (and cheaper to feed...a lot cheaper).

That's a nice light, I'd need to run 2. I'm running a 48" quad bulb housing. It works well. 2 bulbs are for plant growth and the other two are medium sunlight bulbs I think.

Right now it's around 63, so I need to raise the temp a lot. My 180 is at 73 right now somehow.

Summertime my house stays around 73.

Those botias IMMEDIATELY found their 2 brethren and took over the hollow log. Funny little guys, I like them a lot already. I will say, though, the bichirs are my absolute favorite fish (obviously the ray is in it's own category).

Edit: GREAT NEWS!! I finally saw my ray eat!! He ate a rather large ghost shrimp in front of me and is currently hunting another one. I was so worried he wasn't eating. Nope, he is living large

once he starts eating better you should try to get him on prepared foods as soon as possible. i made the mistake of feeding my puffers on snails mainly and not just as treats and now they almost never eat the frozen blood worms i give them. its a pretty huge PITA, honestly. it wouldn't be an issue if i still had a snail issue in my other tanks but i don't and i really do not want to force a snail pop boom

Oh I definitely plan to. However, I'm going to feed him all the shrimp he wants for now. I want him strong and healthy. He's a VERY active hunter too, just lazy during the day. I ****ing love him. He's extra effort, but totally worth it.

I got my aquaclear filter for the main 55 today. Very well built, I will be ordering some for the 180 for sure to assist whatever sump setup I run.
