Hell yeah, they had 3 and I want all of them. I'll be fair and leave one though

The ray is exciting, good thing I bought soft sand for a substrate

They are like 3.5" and FAT. I think they will be okay, but I can keep them in a different tank than the ray.

I went back and bought another zebra. I've missed like half of my work day so far haha. They had gold leopard plecos for $50/each. I like the rarity of the zebra plecos and their colors are nifty the leopards got much bigger too.

Where are you keeping all these fish? The 180 surely can't be cycled that quickly.

180 and 55 for the smaller guys. I've only got like 15 fish and a lobster.

I'll check that out, thanks man!

For those interested, they have one left at $150.

Water levels tested good for what he wants, so I put him in the tank, but I can't get him eating

I'm scared.

Here's a better picture of him. Dim lights so he wont be scared. The other guys in the tank like him so far. Right now the water is being turned over 7 times per hour, but the 180 will be turned more than that and will also be a sand bottom. Yes, those rocks are VERY soft. I took some to the LFS to make sure it was safe for him. They said it was fine, but I'm doing pool sand anyway. Got 150lbs of it today for under $20.

he probably is stressed and wont touch food for a couple days. be careful moving him around, the last thing you want is to meet the business end of his tail. i guess it is extremely painful.

edit: i did a little reading up on them and it says retics are very finicky eaters, especially while young. MFK recommends you feed them on ghost shrimp and other small, live food for the first few months then you can try to feed them prepared foods.

I was just reading that too. There are 4 or 5 ghost shrimp in there now, I'll go buy 20 or so more tomorrow. Free cleanup plus food, deal

That tank looks beautiful.

So I've got a full arsenal of chemicals (intended for aquarium use) to control tank levels. Do you guys ever used the stresszyme or stress+? The lfs gave me some, I guess it's good for controlling ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, etc. My pH is 7.1 (recommended for rays and ghost knife fish) and everything else is good. I also got a bunch of ghost shrimp, hopefully he devours them.

The only chemical I've ever put into my tank is Seachem Prime.

Theres (IMO) Zero reason to be putting additional chemicals into a well maintained, properly cycled tank.

Seachem prime is the one I bought, the others were free. I put the Seachem in my water that's prepping for my next change

Yeah, personally like I said, I don't put anything in the water other than the Prime.

I'm just going by what they say. They both have marine biology degrees, so they definitely know more than me. They gave me some small bottles to try, I guess the aloe is good for the ray specifically. I'm no pro and I don't claim to be. I just want to give these fish, specifically the ray, the best care I can.

Search search search. I haven't even made an account on MFK because I have so many questions they already answered.

Not trying to say anyone is wrong, because they more than likely know a whole lot more than I do. I just have my own opinions on things, so I may or may not be wrong.

I've got a MFK account, I find it hilarious that Monster Energy drink co is sueing them though...

Bogus.

So I'm about to spend a couple hours watching and waiting. Hopefully the ray eats.

I actually agree with you unless it is a planted tank then it might be necessary to dose according to what your plants need. the only thing i use on my tanks is seachem flourish excel and i use substrate fert tabs occasionally. even that is not needed but flourish makes a pretty big difference, especially with algae control
