My roomate has a 30 gal with 4 red belly piranhas in it.
i had 5 piranhas a few years ago.. once they get any bigger than 3 inches theyre no fun they just hide all the time..

You're gonna need a bigger tank. As it's been posted before, the minimum size tank for an Oscar is a 75, plus with the added aggression of the JD, you're going to be looking at a tank of 120 gallons

Have fun wasting the money on the bamboo shark. Unless it's going into a pond that's 20' (Yes, feet) in diameter, it will die a painful death.

EDIT: I currently have 2 10 gallons FW tanks, 1 55 FW, and a 30 SW reef. Once I move out, I'll be getting a couple of 180s

I am looking at Chiloscyllium griseum [edit]

many sites suggest 180g.

I disagree with 180 and am going to have a 300+ for now (eventually will be upgrading to something built in and larger than that). But for now I am pretty sure that he will be ok in a 300+

Not going to work. For SW sharks, the general rule of thumb is to get a round pool whose diameter is a minimum of 5X the maximum length of the adult shark. This is because sharks need to be constantly swimming in order to get oxygen. They are also naturally very active animals and you will need to accommodate them in that sense as well.

Try giving a few of the threads in this forum a look through, just to get an idea of what you think you can correctly house: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/fo...play.php?f=189
http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/fo...d.php?t=385463

I'm not trying to come off as a dick or anything, I just don't want to see you guys lose money, be disappointed, or see a shark needlessly die.

I like the fact that you're trying to be a conscientious fish keeper, but bamboo sharks dont swim constantly. There's actually quite a few species of sharks that can pump water across their gills to keep breathing, bamboos being one of them. They are naturally sluggish bottom dwelling fish.

Lots of people keep them in a 180, however I (and many others) would agree that 300 is probably a better fit. If you can set up a 300 correctly it would make a pretty good tank for a bamboo.
