Here's why you shouldn't release your Oscar into the wild when you're, "done with it"

Even wild caught native fish can pick up non-native disease in your tank that you could be unleashing upon the native ecological system. A non-native introduction is even worse. Non-native species compete with native fish for food and habitat, eat native fish eggs, and even destroy habitat all together. Non-native species that have caused significant problems include many species of carp, zebra mussels, the round goby, the spiny water flea, and species of snakeheads just to name a few. The introduction of snakeheads to native waters has caused the ban of ALL species of Channa to be banned from the United States. These beautiful monsters are no longer allowed to be kept in aquariums. There is also a sustained population of goldfish in the mississippi river and although they don't cause much of a problem, they give DNR officials ammo in trying to ban more species of fish that you and I keep. NEVER RELEASE YOUR FISH OR INVERTEBRATES INTO THE WILD. I hate to say it but euthanizing your fish is actually a better option than letting them go. I choose neither. If there is a fish I absolutely cannot keep anymore, I sell it or give it to another fish keeper that will provide a good home. I hope you will do the same.
Also, don't use feeder fish, they're awful for your fish. They're full of diseases and they don't really offer that great of nutrition.

Why not just get fish you can keep for life in a 55? What's the point of growing out an Oscar and then getting rid of it? All of the money you spent on it will have gone towards nothing if you don't plan on keeping it for life.

It was a royal pain in the *** to move by myself. The tank was insanely heavy. Thank god for old man strength. The water is crystal clear and I couldnt be happier with the way it looks. I plan on adding one more of every type of fish in the near future so there will be triplets of every type minus the lobsters cause these two already fight enough as it is

You're not going to get a fish that can live happily in a 55 that will also eat feeder fish, at least none that I know of. If you just want to watch a fish eat other fish, you're going to have to upgrade to a much larger tank or get out of the hobby.

Undr, do you have a hidden in there somewhere?

Wait, are all of these in the 55? The Plecos are going to outgrow the tank (They can grow to over 18 inches), the Tin Foil Barbs are going to outgrow the tank (Can grow to 14 inches), the Bala Sharks need more swimming room, the "asian suckers" I am assuming are either Chinese Algae Eaters or Siamese Algae Eaters. If it's the Siamese, they're fine, but if it's the Chinese Algae Eater, I would highly recommend getting rid of it right away. They grow to be a foot long and will kill any other fish in the tank by stressing them out. The Tiger Barbs will nip at the Angel fish, so you would have to choose between those two fish. Tiger Barbs are notorious fin nippers. You might want to watch the crayfish (Not lobsters) with fish because they will easily catch them and eat them.

Try to get pictures of the leopard fish so we can find out what they are. I've got a few ideas, but I want to see pictures of them first

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news though...

I own a 150 gallon tank, not sure where the 50 gallon confusion is coming from. None of my fish attack one another minus the lobsters fighting over the center rock piece.

Again I own a 150 gallon tank, not a 55 gallon. They have been living together for about 2-3 months now. Ive had no issues of the fish nipping at one another or the lobsters trying to eat other fish. Also that fish is called a Leporinus Fasciatus, also I was in correct about my catfish they are called Pictus Catfish, my suckers look like these guys Plecostomus or these guys Hifin Spotted Pleco, but Im not 100% if they are this type.

4 Pictus Catfish
1 Senegal Bichir
1 Red Tailed Shark

If I were to do American cichlids again it would probably include some sort of Geophagus species.

My bad, I guess I got you confused with the guy with the 55. I would still be a bit wary of the two crays though. I've seen what they can do to fish, and it's not pretty. The aggression/nipping part was if they were in a 55, so ignore that part. Sorry for the mix up!

No worries, the crayfish care more about each other and escaping than the other fish.

Just curious, but are there a lot of hiding places for them? When they molt, they're gonna need to hide for awhile.

People release fish here all the time in sofla. My lake is not like one of those bigger lakes in the north, its a private lake.

Im getting rid of the oscar though

How about angel fish, and maybe 2 red tail shark, and maybe a small cichlid.

No to the angel fish. Red Tailed sharks harass and eventually kill each other, keep one per tank. Define "small cichlid"

Just because people do it all the time doesn't mean it's the right thing. People who do that are the reason that so many species are banned in certain states, regardless of if you think it's not a problem or not

Ok forget about the oscar problem.

Why no to the angel fish?

So one red tail shark. Will they get a long with others.

and a small african cichlid that wont grow to big.

Actually I have no idea what im saying I want to hear you guys.

What are some good active fish for a 55 gallon that arent tiny fish and you can actually see from a distance.

Angel fish have very stringy fins, most other fish will end up nipping at them a lot. Also they only get to 6 inches or so but end up very tall.

Red tailed sharks are pretty peaceful with anything that isn't the same species (or ruby sharks).

Do you want South/Central american cichlids or African cichlids? They have very different tankmate requirements

South/Central options
-Severums are nice
-Convict Cichlid
-Firemouth
-Geophagus species (need sand substrate)
-Rainbow Cichlids

Africans are usually mislabeled and there are a lot of different sub-sections, you really have to pick one type and stick with it.

So a red tail shark is a possibility, and I was looking more towards african cichlids since i heard they grow smaller.

Tomorrow I start the setup
Im building the stand and im gonna start cycling the water how long should I cycle it 2-3 days?

Also can I put any loaches or is my tank too small.
