Didnt know where to post this but...

What is to be expected at a tryout?

What do the captains and players on the team look for in the players trying out?

Thanks

- Communication (with strangers)
- Commitment potential (regular practices, ability/resources to attend tournaments)
- Performance at a specific position, particularly if the team needs that filled
- Maturity and getting along with teammates

Before you plan on trying out for a team make sure you have the funds to play all the events the team is planning on playing (hotel, food and gas on top of entry and paint expenses), have enough funds for practicing on the regular and a ride to practices and events. Making the team is great but if you can't afford to play events then there's not much point in making the team.

When at tryouts most teams are looking for this:

Solid fundamentals of playing such as gun control, shooting with both hands, snap shooting, laning and communication.

Communication and how you play others, teams will want to see how you communicate with team mates and if you know how to play off your team mates moves. It is extremely important to communicate when playing competitive paintball and helps you and your team out immensely in the middle of a point.

Teams also like to pick up versatile players, meaning players that can do multiple roles, such as play back, mid, front or do a particular job like holding a particular lane.

Teams loveee aggressive players and play makers so keep that in mind. The guy who sticks in the back and shoots 7 pods will not be remembered as much as the person who gets into 50 snake chops up 1 guy then bunkers out the last guy. So take chances when you are trying out, if it doesnt work out then make a mental note of that and change what caused you to get shot.

Lastly a good attitude. Nobody wants a cry baby on their team or someone who is a jackass. So be kind and respectful to everyone on the team and at tryouts.

If you don't end up making the team then ask them if they would be open to letting your practice with them, practicing with people who are better than you is one of the best ways to get good at anything.

TL;DR: Funds, Fundamentals, Communication, Versatility, Aggression, Attitude

Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions.
