yes similar but also different. instead of actually plating metal onto the item you are causing it to oxidize like bushy said. oxidizing is aluminum's version of rust. this oxide layer forms on the part and it is what is dyed.

mfkr-imho you should be fine, people get ther barrels anodized all the time without problem. also they would get bigger instead of smaller. so the paint would be a few thousandths looser in the barrel.

When a gun is stripped, do you plug the holes and not mess with the inside or plug NOTHING and just let the stripper do the work? Is this the same method with anodizeing?

If I were to strip half of my anno off and leave half on, would that work? I would like to have a red/silver fade on my cocker.

I would just put half of the body in the stripping solution and hold it there.

warm water + lye= pits in the metal, olny use cold water with the lye, warm water makes the lye pit alunium really bad.250-300 for a basic ano kit LOL,get real, try about 1500 just for the basic's.and then about 6 months to get it right.and no you cant just strip off half the ano,you will be leaving bear alunium.the whole gun must be done at the same time.

I mean for a basic, 1 body, frame and such beginer set-up, and lots of practice to set it up.

If you keep the part constantly moving it doesn't pit. I use high quality stripper for everything but I ran out, so lye is just a subsitute.

its prolly been said before but ill say it again.

if your gonna have your gun stripped pay the extra cash to have the insides masked and plugged, that way you dont throw out the tolerances inside the gun.

the leopard print is anodizing but its injected. FBM has it done to some of their bodies, i beleive PK selective does that but i may be wrong.

never home anodize its dangerous and you can have a expensive paperweight or lose your life. leave it to the pros.

ONLY STEEL can be anodized.

be safe

Josh
