Something Smells Fishy...Official Aquarium Thread v.2.0

Version 2 finally!

Hopefully we can put together an informative first page when compared to the old thread.

I will work on this later, just wanted to get this up and running instead of the thread that SYSTEM created.

I like this thread better.

So I think I'm going to keep my 55 and my blue botias until I move. I kind of want to add angelicus botias too since they will only be in there for a few months just to enjoy them.

are you going to buy a new tank once you get settled in HI? it would suck to not be able to enjoy the hobby at all. at the very least get yourself a nano cube.

i most likely won't be able to work on the OP until my day off, sunday.

Ah, i thought you were selling them all. Well that's not too bad.

i've been doing a lot of research on koi ponds. too bad i'm stuck in an apartment.

my rents do live like an hour away and they happen to have a lovely backyard that's quite empty. hmm, if anything it'd raise the property value when they go to sell!

Koi ponds tank resale. They are a malaria hazard if not maintained.

I **** you not, that's directly from my architecture classes.

Yeah I'm looking forward to wild caught fish too

That is true.

I can't decide what to leave in my tank until I move. I just want something entertaining.

So I switched up my tank setups.

I'm taking a 120g with me and maybe my 90g salt too. For now, a 10+" fire eel and 5" elephant nose will inhabit the tank.

Just moving my post from the last thread ..

Finally started putting a couple of fish in my tank. I had my water levels tested last night and everything looked good, so I went ahead and bought 2 mollies. After a few days I am going to test the levels again and get either 2 or 3 neon tetras, a couple platys or a Dwarf Gourami. Also, would shrimp or snails impact my tank ecosystem in a negative matter with ammonia levels and would it count towards my tank capacity?

Nice

Look into blue prawns and bamboo shrimp. Those are great for cleaning, or so I'm told, and their cleaning efforts balance out their minimal amonia output.

Also, this is like the greatest video ever. I love elephant noses.

As much as i love zebras, they'd probably be boring to watch, if you want action in your tank before you move that is.

I sold one for $150 Selling another one on Sunday and keeping the third for now (zebra pleco). They are boring, but they look awesome. I think the fire eel and elephant nose are the perfect additions. I'll feed them healthy and sell/give them away when I leave. They are lively too.

Also, he's 12"

Visited my LFS for the first time, the guy who owned it knew his stuff! Taught me a lot about the basics, and hooked it up with plenty of fairy moss, cory cat, and snail.. He was also telling me if I have enough plants to counteract the ammonia levels I can have 30-40 maybe more fish in my 14 gallon and to ignore the 1 inch per gallon rule which would be pretty cool.

It did seem a lot when he first said that, I'm sure he was probably referencing tetras and platys.. I am now looking to put in a swordtail and dwarf gourami down the line once the tank starts to get more established.

Well that's it. Sunday all of my fish go away. I'm ****ing done.

My stingray got the dreaded death curl and died within hours. He went from happy, healthy, swimming, and hunting ghost shrimp to dead. His water was completely fine, nothing changed, he just ****ing died.

Oddly, he passed while the base was playing taps.
