I would hardly say its almost exactly the same. Compare the opener this year with phx last year and your lookin at an extra $450 to play d3 which is usually the most popular xball division. Thats a lot to those teams. And comparing the limits per division, it seems like the psp doesnt expect many teams to attend.

im pretty sure there trying to get people to pay for the whole season up front so they for one "get there spot" and so they get 2010 event pricing not many teams are gonna be able to do this so we will see how this works hopefully its for the best i guess

By bad, I was looking at D2 xball. To be fair... a lot of these changes are what people posted for feedback.

So entry fees are higher and prizes are lowered? I'm curious on exactly what the NPPL is doing differently to have their league running better.

You must have an odd definition of running better? Please explain.

they cut d1 from 6500 or 6000 to 3000 and half entry which means 4400, and went up 50 on entry from last year. Explain how this is making things cheaper please.

How is it not exactly? Every year since the bankruptcy the NPPL seems to grow while they hold events in great locations and even with a webcast every now and again. Also with the new bps cap it will save paint money.

The PSP this year has been telling us again and again that they are saving the players money, but I have yet to see a change add to that. Raising entry is going to save us money how exactly? I wouldn't doubt that players would have been happy with doing away with divisional cash prizes altogether and lowering the entry costs, or atleast keeping them the same. It's not like any of us play for the money.

When the website says:
"Field Layout
The PSP will release the actual layout of the fields one week prior to the start of each event. So for the PSP Galveston Island event, the layout will be released on Thursday, May 3, 2011."

They mean March 3rd, 2011 right?

But anyway, to PSP for taking player's suggestions and making the league better than ever.

Explain where I said anywhere "This is making things cheaper".
I said thanks, because it looked for a bit there that they might have been talking away all prizes.

And it won't be cheaper, thats fairly obvious now. But they are doing what they have to, to stay in business. I'll be in Texas looking forward to starting another successful season.
Hope to see everyone there

You realize that NPPL last went bankrupt at the end of 2008, ran as USPL in 2009, and NPPL in 2010?

Do you also realize that NPPL had 322 teams play in 2009, and 327 in 2010?

So I suppose you have a point, if by "every year" you meant "one year" and by "increase" you meant 1.4%.

Quote:

PSP said not releasing layouts would help teams save money. It should. I don't think they've made the claim otherwise.

The RaceTo-2 entry fees going down almost 20% will save those teams money. The RaceTo-4 entry fees went up (unless you're playing Pro) a whopping 4% for D3/D4 and 2% for D1/D2. Are you really complaining about a 4% increase in entry fees? Ever heard of inflation?

Since you seem to like comparing things to NPPL:

PSP / NPPL
Pro: 12% / 9%
D1: 2% / 0%
D2: 2% / 0%
D3: 4% / 0%
D4: 4% / NA
D3-5: -18% / NA
D4-5: -18% / 0%
Pump: NA / 66%

According to the feedback PSP received, at least some teams are playing for the money. While I PERSONALLY think that defies logic, it is what it is. That said, for D3 and D4, the prizes are entry fees to begin with, so it's not likely cutting those would result in much flow-through to entry fee reduction.

By the way, the prize package for D4 went *UP*, as last year it was trophies/medals only.

- Chris

Edit: Correcting NPPL %'s due to using discounted fees originally.

Well there "point" to changing the rules was to get new players into the league correct? That was my understanding.

New players typically enter in d3 or d4 5man, which both went down in price, along with adding prizes for d4.

So actually... YES , its a lot cheaper for some.

Clearly the thought behind that is to add new teams as stated. Will it work or not? Who knows, only time will tell.

Since you seem to like comparing things to NPPL, NPPL entry fees went up 66% for Pump, 9% for D4 5-man, they stopped even offering D3 5-man, 7% for D3 7-man, 8% for D2 7-man, 8% for D1 7-man, and 17% for Pro.

So, let's compare price increases:
PSP / NPPL
Pro: 12% / 17%
D1: 2% / 8%
D2: 2% / 7%
D3: 4% / 7%
D4: 4% / NA
D3-5: -18% / NA
D4-5: -18% / 9%
Pump: NA / 66%
