dye hyper 2 on quest

im considering puting the Dye Hyper 2 reg on my Quest and trading away the stock one. Is this a good idea? Will the Dye help my guns performance? Will it be better than the stock reg? Please let me know, i dont know much about regs honestly, so your detailed feedback will be very appreciated! Thanks

Jeff

Agreed, why spend the money for no extra performance?

Honestly I have done lots of testing when we first designed the quest... Different regs and what not and the hpr mod with lpr mod are the same as putting a 2 liter on there except for the fact it does not creep.

Good luck. If you want a hyper 2 despite what we say go for it. All were saying is flow is better with stock.

Irrespective of that, I doubt that you would see any noticeable reduction in performance by switching to a Hyper2 reg. They are good regs in their own right, and the reg swivel does indeed mean that you can put the macro fitting at whatever angle you prefer.

For that matter, I can't say that my 2-Liter has ever suffered from reg creep. If it did, I'd conclude that either the piston were sticking or the pin valve were leaking and would fix it.

Barring poor design or manufacture, there is no particular reason why any reg should suffer from creep if it is maintained correctly. You just have to know what causes the problem and how to fix it.

On a personal level though (and entirely unrelated to performance), Quests just don't look right with most aftermarket regs.

I (surprisingly) actually do like the looks of the CP v2 reg on them. Not the v1, but the v2 yes.

Not a big fan of the "replace every reg with a cp shorty" mentality that a lot of people have. I don't really get it. Why spend money for something that doesn't match your marker as well as the stock and in a lot of cases performs no better either?

My personal favorite aftermarket reg was always the Detonators though myself. Loved them things (once they get broken in). Although would never consider replacing most regs with one, used to use them all the time back when cockers were still big, since WGP regs were annoying to adjust.

Not to mention that after a while, the price of the Detonators dropped to rock bottom.

I love hyper2's. Great regs and they can be had quite cheaply. They have given me fantastic consistency on every gun I've used them one. With that said, I recommend going for the cheap option of fixing the stock reg first

I swapped my stock reg for a detonator. I haven't had it out to test yet, but it seems more comfortable to me and I genuinely like the looks of the Quest with that reg. The detonators on both of my old pimps seemed to work well, I just didn't like using the lower part of the reg as the velocity output adjuster. Was fine as long as the set screw stayed tight and you didn't fall on it...

I hate how quests look with the stock regs. Probably cause i never had one. My hyper 2 is very comfortable, and as Gal said, the macro fitting can be moved around. its purely a cosmetic/personal taste choice.

My Quest came to me without a regulator. With some parts swapping I am pretty happy with the look. I like my macro line out of the way so the swivel and a ASA with the straight macro fitting works well for me.
