You guys are right Quake 3 arena was money, as well as unreal tourny. Guys N64 was GREAT i had some awesome golden eye all nighters with friends, as well as super smash bros.

However I am only speaking of multiplayer games, Im not big on single player games. I still go back and play counter strike, team fortress, played through diablo 2 not to long ago.

The past is always remembered better then it actually was, and that applies to anything.

The games out right now are incredible yet nobody is happy

Everquest is IMO amongst the greatest games ever made

I've had like 15-17 computers in my lifetime, my console gaming started with a Sega Master system, and after gaming for the past 22 years or so, i can still safely say my favorite game of all time is still EQ

people who didnt play it prior to it's Luclin expansion dont even have a clue what it was like, WoW is a joke compared to what EQ once was.

Difficulty or time required =/= quality.

Maybe you actually have good reasons but it seems like every EQ fanboy can only cite difficulty as why it was so much better "wow iz too easy, its fer nubz" and "levelling took sooo much longer!"

HL2 was groundbreaking. Anyone who says otherwise is lying to themselves because they don't like valve.

At least they added content after release though. And there's plenty of mods that "add on" to the storyline. There's rumors of a new addition coming out but they didn't announce anything at E3 so who knows.

It set the definition for games with good storylines and graphics. Well, I guess HL1 did that but whatever.

It was ahead of it's time. The graphics may be a tad bit outdated now but just a year ago they were still up to speed. They revamped it a little and applied it to TF2 and Portal.

The game itself has a somewhat short storyline for a game that's purely SP. but the addons make it quite a bit longer. While it doesn't have the diversity of FO (speaking of FO, if you rushed through it FO is VERY short) it does have the length.

When you think of ground breaking what do you think of? WC 3? WoW? Diablo 1 or 2?

I guess for me, why I think it's groundbreaking, is because after I played it I began comparing everything to it. To me, and this is my personaly opinion here, that's the biggest thing with something being amazing. People will do some of the things they did and buff others. I don't know, just after HL2 I found myself comparing everything to it. Personal, of course. And while it is my opinion, I do believe a lot of people will agree with me.

the difficulty gave the game a realer feel, kinda like how paintball is closer to a real gun fight than a nerf war is. Also WoW all you need is a healer and tank and the rest of your group can be anything. Everquest took ALOT more team work and strategy. Also WoW looks cheesy as hell, everyone seems to look the same. Everquest toons looked alot more unique.

there are way too many awesome games to list. and it's not because i enjoyed them as a kid, it's because i fired them up on an emulator and still enjoy the hell out of em.
