AdBlock

Yea... the AdBlock work around is extremely frustrating...

I am of the personal belief that if I want to alter a way my browser displays pages to my liking, I should be able to do so.

I'll just have to add the code that generates the PBN banner ad's to "do not display" list in another plug in.

Just my rant.

I agree with the OP.
It's BS how you're even spamming my browser with ads (your personal message) after I have AdBlock. I do not want to have any ads when I visit your site, I tried to use AdBlock but since you're still spamming me, I just might have to stop visiting your site all-together.

ps; i know it won't matter, i was just sayin

I had to do the right click the images, then go to adblock image again to manually put them on the block list. But the format for the mega square is still there....but the ads are not.

It is a little annoying.....

I cant tell you how to do it because that will get me banned. As frustrating as it is, youre going to have to deal with it for now. Ive asked some questions and it appears to me that when we block the ads, PBN doesnt get that money. We dont have to click the ads for pbn to get the money. They just have to load on our browser window. I can understand why PbN did the work around. I guess the percentage of users using ABP to hide the ads was taking too much away from PbNs revenue. It is what it is.

Stop *****ing about them trying to run a business, do you go to your local music store and complain about the concert posters on the wall? No..just enable the ads and ignore them, it's not a big ****ing deal.

What he said. After I found out that blocking the ads takes away from the revenue, I dont have such a problem with is. Why? Because I would do the same damn thing if I was running a business like this.

I think you should get infractions for saying your blocking the ADs. Do you have "ADD?" Can you not ignore small boxes? Thats extremely sad. You ***** about small ads. It gives revenue to the site that GIVES YOU a place to talk. Atleast they don't do popup ads.

I'm not mad, any fool that can use a keyboard could work around what they did. That's not the point.

They provide a service, which for them, costs money. They gain this money back by providing the ASM services, and other subscription based things. Where MOST of the revenue comes from is for contracts for advertising based on page views or clicks, and sometimes even through the purchase of products.

I don't see a need to block them, whatsoever. It's not a distraction -- I've had a few AD's on which I actually thought were interested and clicked on.

Yes, you are free to change your display how you want. At what cost? Right now nothing. Hopefully in the future they will reprimand for it.

I paid for the ASM benefits as well -- To support the website, and what it's done for me. I've learned a great deal from this website and only hope to continue it's growth by one of THE MOST SIMPLE things. Allow 2 very, very small ads to show to me, that I don't pay attention to half the time anyway.

You all insult them, however you wouldn't be browsing this website without the revenue they gain from those.

and if they did then it'd be blocked. Also AdBlock is not just for PBN it's for the internet in general.

Add that to the fact that I add a lot of avatars that are annoying to the blocked list also makes it a fine tool and ad on to my Firefox Browser.

I change the radio station in my truck when they start playing ads should that station block my receiver from accepting their airwaves?

While I don't have an issue with PbN's ads, as they're mostly PB related, and not invasive, I do use AdBlock for other sites that are just ad-riddled and unusable without it. I don't mind seeing the "message" or whatever you'd call it. I still use the site in other places where AdBlock isn't available (library mainly), so at least there's my part in their revenue... during the semester, anyway.

Those website viewership things are always a guess. That data is never accurate and 50k people wouldn't drop because of a image.

I run 10+ websites and Compete has been accurate to within 1000 visits comparing to my own server stats.

One question I have is...
If PBN is going to disable Adblock via JavaScript, why not just show the ads so they can make money?

Don't get me wrong, I am all for a business making money but I am against forcing users to view things they specifically blocked in the first place. In this case the ads.

That isn't how we roll. We're not forcing you to view ads by doing what we're doing now, we're merely notifying you that by blocking ads, you're basically pulling the rug out of a site that we bring to you for free.
