So I finally broke down and bought a 360

After being a loyal pc gamer for about 10 years. Have a couple stupid questions. I bought a slim 250gig so I could load up some movies/music on it. Stupid question I have is how can I get my files on the xbox. All I've figured out is how to stream and play off a flashdrive. But I want to actually put the files on the system since I have this 250gig hard drive in it

In Soviet Russia, 360 breaks down on you.

Oh wait, it does that everywhere. Enjoy your pile of ****.

we just got a new xbox as well

I know you can rip CD's on to it but i just use media center and a hard drive with all my music to stream from my computer. Why fill up HD space on your xbox when you can stream from somewhere else?

Depends on what xbox you have. I'm pretty sure everything other than the new slim ones only support FAT32. Haven't tried it since the new interface though.

I do know there is a limit to how big the external can be because my 2tb external wont work with it

I dont have a problem with streaming its just that I have a very large media collection so I would have to stream it from different location or the xbox will bog down from loading the collection. Was also thinking it would be cool to have the media on it if I took it somewhere. But then again I usually have a laptop with me if I go anywhere anyways.

1. 2. 3 XBOX 360's in my house (including a 1st gen release model) and never had 1 RRoD. Yup, big pile of ****.

Anyhow I don't believe you can copy files directly for video. Only audio. The only video it'll store locally is stuff you download via the LIVE service (trailers, shows, etc).

I have all my media just setup via run of the mill Windows 7 media player to stream to my XB360. That takes care of most of it, but also there's obviously Streaming Netflix and you can get Hulu and stuff w/ programs like Play-On.

As for media. I have about a terabyte of video and no issues using the non-Media Center options (Media Center can get boggy). Only thing I suggest is try breaking it into folders to minimize that load. I go A-G, H-Z, TV Shows & Unwatched.

Yeah thats the only solution I could think of to, I'll break it all down eventually. The xbox is hooked up to my monitor at the moment so its just as easy to switch back to the computer for movies and such so I guess I dont really have a reason to stream stuff at the moment

This completely eliminates the incredible number of people who have had the RRoD.

The ps3 lets you connect to your computer wirelessly and import media, including images, music, and video.

IMO, PS3 is a better more reliable system than xbox but most of the people I know play XBL so it's an easy choice. I would rather play a worse system with all my friends than a better system with no one that I know. But thats just me.
