Are you talking grass seed and fertilizer or sod? If I remember, BBP's airball field is a bit sandy. Not so much top soil, but actual sand. Sod would take well to that but it would at least double the cost.
No matter what you do the field won't be playable for some amount of time while you wait for grass to grow/sod to take root.
