it would appear that they break out behind a bunker across the back line of the field so that both teams have 5 alive on the break and it causes you to play more as a team to beat other teams in stead of shooting 2 players off the break and having a 5 v 3. this is only my opinion so i could be wrong. as far as the "grid" portion of their name i can see how 5 players on each side making lines vertically down the field and the horizontal lines on the field that some players use to call out positions of the other team can form a grid. this is also an educated guess. hope this helped a little.

IF THE FIRST THING YOU WOULD GRAB IN A FIRE IS YOUR PAINTBALL STUFF, PUT THIS IN YOUR SIG
Studies show that 91% of paintball players would die if HK said breathing wasn't "AGG" Put this in your Signature if your one of the 9% who would celebrate the mass suicide of Hostile Kids
It's a new fOrmat being develOped by a field owner up here in Ontario. The idea is to make it more acceptable for tv. Basically the game is always 5 on 5, if a player gets shot he runs off and another player jumps on but you lose that other players field position. As a team you have to move up the field and instead of capturing a flag and hanging it thee are 5 targets to shoot. 1 point for each target, the game runs with 4 5 min quarters. It's super intense and actually a ton of fun if you have a good pit crew and coach. Of I wasn't on my iPhone I'd type more. Oh and **** autocorrect
It's a super fun series and it's unlike any other format of paintball I've played. It's very intense because there is always 10 guys on the field and players aren't worried to come bunker you because someone will take their place right after. It's very physically demanding because you are constantly running on and off the field with little to no water breaks so it's recommended (by me) to be physically fit to play this format unless you want to wind up puking. It's definitely worth it to anyone to check out this format, it's getting bigger and better every year.
