I've been helping out a lot with IR3s at my local shop and have been experimenting a lot with the settings WDP recommends.
The "fail-safe" setting for IR3 with EVO II:
ROF 20 (or whatever you like, say 15-16 for a EVOII without the Y-board?)
Try this first.
Ok, if it still chops it can usually be one or more of these problems:
* The COPS-sensor is broken or the COPS-pin is too worn down or stuck somehow. This usually happens from people putting non-IR3 custom bolts in the gun. As older type Angel bolts don't have the COPS-pin they usually have the slot cut in a different position (i.e. for the ball-detent). Also rarely this can happen from shell fragments causing bolt-stick by sticking to and under the lower front of the bolt.
* Ball detent screwed in too far. If you can feel a sharp edge in the breech from the threading on the detent it's too far in.
* You're using old and brittle paint? It may already be slightly broken before it enters the gun.
* You may be shooting with extremely high air pressure behind the ball. Say 400+ fps? In that case it's time to get it fixed by an airsmith because it wouldn't be possible unless it's seriously broken. Don't worry. Angels very rarely get these problems and angels can always be fixed. (Love this gun!)
If it doesn't chop with the 6/6 setting then your COPS is working and you can start to optimize it.
This setting should be what you want:
Try it and if necessary keep lowering the SEN until you don't chop anymore.
If you have the new improved EVO II with the "Y-board" (19+bps?) then put the settings on SEN8/BAS1. Whee! Now it shoots without any slowness in the trigger just like a Timmy.
Of course, changing the trigger spring for a weaker one from a ballpoint pen and adjusting the trigger to super-tight also helps.
Angel IR3... love these guns!
Just waiting to get my hands on a Speed though, because they're even faster.
