I heard you changed the date of the big game to 7/31.
Is that true?

Just found out this field is pretty close to me. If you show up for open games on Saturday/Sunday are there always enough people playing speedball to get a game going? I'm looking for a field that always gets a good crowd for open speedball.

I'm kinda concerned right now in regards to the field.

I want to try it out ever since it opened but the fact I've been hearing paintcases stolen as well as the rare ego 8 in this thread makes me a bit apprehensive.

Is PBX doing something to rectify such situations in the future?

Well considering the kid who lost his Ego 8 left it sitting on a table and then walked across the street to Wendy's . . . I'd say he deserved it, and since when is it ok to leave your stuff just sitting out? They provide lockers for free . . . how lazy do you have to be to buy a lock and take advantage of it. None of my stuff has ever been stolen, wanna know why? Cuz I lock it up . . .
PBExplosion has one of the best indoor fields around. Nuff said.

Chicago Riot will be playing on Saturday.

From what I can gather, the same kid who previously owned it in another forum didn't say he went to wendy's, he said he took a sip of water for like a minute and then when he returned, it was stolen.

Also another local team told me that their opponent's left their unused paint only for it to be stolen after that team played a game or two.

No duh we have to do our part to make sure our gear is safe but when it sounds like I have to bring guard dogs and a swat team to protect my stuff, it raises some issues and questions in my head.

Never take boxes of paint to the indoor unless you have someone watching it.
It can't be seen from the field and unfortunately not everyone can be trusted.
We have all heard the same things from other fields.
Every field in Illinois has had some gear stolen at one point or another.
Hopefully he gets his gun back, and everyone learns something from this.
Personally if I go to a field, I'm with someone that can watch my stuff, or I'm putting my gear in my locked car to eat or use the restroom.

He was walking in front of me and some buddies to Wendy's, when we came back he came to us and said someone stole his ego. . .

To the point. Be responsible for your own stuff. Lock it up or have a friend watch it for you, its just that simple.

Then why would he say just went to get his water bottle instead in another forum? Something's not right.

It's one thing to go to wendy's; it's another to get a bottle of water nearby for like half a minute.

Again my point is not about a lack of responsibility but that if one has to go above and beyond being responsible just to not get your stuff stolen, it draws caution on my part, especially from what I'm hearing.

You fail to realize they starting selling locks after that incident...

2 points:

1) If I had my gun stolen when I walked to Wendy's I'd make some story up too.

2) They've always had lockers, you just needed to bring your own lock. Now they sell locks there.

Also, I always tell me guests to bring every piece of equipment with them when they go anywhere on the field; bathroom, water, whatever. Just to make sure. I always keep spare guns in the trunk of my car. As far as the paint goes, I've never had a problem (to my knowledge), and since this field is geared more towards the 18++ crowd, the maturity of most of the players has been great.

So long story short, just keep your equipment with you, and put your case in a corner somewhere...out of sight out of mind, ya know? I've been there twice and never had an issue.

Our big game is July 31st. It will be AMAZING

Addressing the incidents:

The person whos gun was stolen had told us (paintball explosion staff) that he left for about half an hour to get food. He told us what this after he noticed the marker was stolen. According to person whos gun was stolen, he left it on top of his gearbag in the grand stands. This leaves a lot of time for things to happen. We dont have water fountains here. If he was just in the immediate area, then the friends he was with would have been around his stuff. His friends were with him offsite getting food. His friends however put all their stuff away and or brought it with them. I really feel bad for the guy. We have been very cooperative and will continue to do what ever we can.

How can people blame our park? We have staff everywhere and do our best. Since these incidents we have even heightened our security.

We have always offered free lockers since we have opened, and the locker are everywhere. We were waiting on the lock to be delivered as our supplier has been out. However, we had lock for sale the week his gun was stolen.

I think that this comes down to everyone securing their property. We have locker everywhere. We have them in different sizes so if you want a locker cubby to hold you wallet and keys we offer them too. We have a lot of cameras, however we cant see everything. We do our best to cover what we can. We have a lot of people who frequent our park. Our incident rate is super low.

I've felt safer here than any other park I've been to, just remember that some people, no matter how secure the park is, will still see that marker on top of a bag not as your marker, but as a 400-700$ pile of cash up for grabs.

The owners of PBE are really nice guys, and I can vouche for the heavy security, but they can't fix some peoples innate greed.

Agreed....as expensive as paintball gear is, why would anyone leave their gear out in the open like that? A $700, $800, $900 gun left in the open like that will certainly get people's attention if they dont see anyone near it. Trust no one, people's own family members steal from them, what makes you think a stranger wont steal from you?

This is a lesson for every paintball park or anywhere for that matter, if someone is expensive and you care about it, don't leave it laying around in the open. I'm not saying he deserved to have his gear stolen because no one deserves to have items stolen from them however I do not feel it would in anyway be the park or staffs fault.

Keep up the great work guys, we really appreciate the extra thought and effort you do take for our security.
