He was talking about a full cord, not a face cord. Depending on the wood, a full cord is around 4000lbs, so I'm assuming you haul 2 face cords in that truck. Whether or not the truck/engine can handle it, the thought of getting an 8x8x4 stack of wood secure in the bed makes me cringe.

And I'm surprised (or maybe not) at the response he's getting. Is this thread lame? Yes. Is his truck good? No, not really. But I give him props for driving around an older truck and actually using it. It's better than all the mall crawlers I constantly see.

A full cord weighs between 2000 and 4000 lbs. I'm talking full cords here, truck is a long box with side racks. 2 cords is seriously pushing it, but we never haul just 1(that's about a level box, according to my math), that's for sure.

The weight of a chord of wood depends on the wood and water content. Even if you assume the best case scenario you're still stupid for overloading the truck that much.

i own a 7.3 idi because it gets a cord of wood up and over the mountains easily

(a cord is 4x4x8 since none of you that own trucks actually haul with them)
or not everyone is a lumberjack?

that's the more likely answer

You are right there, my father is stupid and crazy, its his truck so it doesn't bother me other than I often find myself driving it when loaded. We also did a cubic yard of pretty damp sand in the back of that truck once. It was kinda cool getting it loaded, the bucket loader was only a half yard and the first dump looked like a truck commericial. Except the truck didn't rebound at all, and rust fell off it. The loader operator was afraid to do the second dump, but my crazy old man had him dump it in anyways.

This isn't quite a full load. Still way past 1 cord.
