Ford's Ranger had a Mazda/Perkins diesel in the early 80's. It wasn't turbo though, so it was a real dog. They also did a Mitsubishi turbodiesel, but it was only done for like 2 or 3 years and, therefore, are tough to find.

There's lots of 4bt swaps out there if you look enough. There's a guy on cummims forum selling scsb 1500 with a 12v in it, so I guess there's a handful of those too.

I just got off the phone with the trucking company that's going to float mine up. It should be here by the end of next week. Which, of course, is when I'm in Haiti.

I saw a running and driving 94 cummins with 266k with some pretty rough rockers/doors/rear fenders for 1200 in new hampshire last week on craiglist.

Probably best off looking for a old 6.2

The real question is if you could find a diesel truck for 1k would you want to own it? The motors outside the trucks sell for more then that.

For 1k you could probably get one of the old VW Rabbit Pickups

Pirate I have read countless hours about diesels from every manufacture for cars/trucks and I can say I never knew this much info was out there. There is more info and support for diesels than my 6.0 could never have hopped for since I posted my post asking about new trucks in dec-ish time frame.

I will say my LML is the best motor made for GM diesels. I will fight anyone else who think the lbz lmm or any other ones are. I'm glad I went a little higher priced and took the 2011 and not the 2008 with the nav heated seats and power rear window over my current truck

And who says a single can't lay down some decent 4 digit numbers? lol

I'm really considering the new Fleece Cheetah turbo. Looks like a stock HE351 and will support 500+ HP.

If I was the type of guy who just paid for someone to build his truck, the boys at Fleece would be the ones I'd pay to do it. They turn out some real inpressive stuff.

Yea, but I can build it myself.

I just took a job out in ND wrenching in the oil fields. For some pretty decent coin, I plan on a doing a few upgrades to the ol' girl pretty soon. Nothing to crazy but i'd like to get to a reliable 500hp and keep it as a daily driver. I plan on a fuel system upgrade, a little CP3 work, turbo, injectors, built trans, and a free spin front axle upgrade. I already net a pretty decent MPG. I'm hoping to keep it where it's currently at and maybe then some(21mpg), as i'll be traveling from ND to MN every 2 weeks.

AGP, how close are you to Sturgis? I'll be out there this summer on the Harley. Maybe we can meet up man. Would be nice to put a face to the name.
