Chris, I'm not too sure. I just read a quick bio of theirs from last.fm (which is essentially what they have on Wikipedia). I somewhat skimmed over it. You may be completely right.

I just looked up some songs from The Black Keys. They remind me of Ok Go's newest album, except much more understandable and less noisy. So far I like them.
