Can't see myself buying one since I own an SL66 and, imo, PE regs haven't improved since '05 (as in they've always been +/- 5fps or better). This will be a great upgrade for lower-end markers though, if not a little out of place.

This.
I'm glad to see PE releasing these though, I've always like their regs and now they can compete so to say with DYE who has been selling their regs for quite some time.

Thats definitely fair but I would say don't knock it though. I had the SL66 as well and the regs did fine by me but i must admit I am happy they switched from those shims over to a main spring.
But really I think this reg is more for people using non-PE markers then for us with Egos. But don't quote me on that.

lets all get along
all of u guys are talking about the same thing in just a different manner.
first of all i am no kid and have been slinging paint since 1989 yes 89 most of you were not even born yet. The new violent sl3 reg performs exactly the same as a ego 11 reg in every way so its the same reg. Now does it have a 45 collar.
YES thats just so the ego 11 could stand out from the standard sl3 reg. just a selling point for the ego 11. just a gimmick. it helps in no way with air flow. i have a engineering background and worked for national paintball for a long time before they sold out to kee action sports. the air in the system aka your gun must escape out of your gun in the path with least amount of resistance. In short the 90 degree fittings do not hurt air flow in any way.
One more side note: The old regs with the shims are actually better in the long run due to the fact that they retain the metal memory better than a single spring, however they changed it to a single spring to make the marker easier to lube and maintain.
i hope this helps and in no way am i knocking anyones posts.

For the Etek 3, go with the mid pressure.

This is the last time I'll say it. The Ego11 reg was rumoured to be sold seperately, this identical (SL3) reg is not on the Ego11. I dont know how I could make it any clearer, but if you would like me to dumb it down for you then PM me. This isnt a pissing contest, shut up and let this stay on topic.
|
Where does it say 'Ego11 Reg'? The title of this thread reads 'SL3 regulator'. If you don't know what that is, perhaps you should keep your mouth shut. Walt is too nice to put you in your place, but I'm not. So please 'dumb this down for me'.

These SL3 regs work great. The biggest thing that gets overlooked with them is the fact that they let you shoot very deep in to your tank. Mine get as low as about 500 psi.

Just got it and put it on my etek 3, thing leaks out of the vent port like crazy. When I adjust the velocity screw it stops. Any ideas?

If it stops when you adjust the velocity screw then whats the problem? Is it still shooting at 280?

So, is it absolutely sure that we can't take the swivel of a geo s3 to put on a sl3 ?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but when your shooting the Geo, You have a Choice of Low or High Pressure. The Geo2 is compatible with both, but the Geo and Geo+ have (stock) HP Springs in the regulator. An LP Spring can be purchased (included with the LP Reg sold here) To run a LP tank with the geo. Geo's will not run on a LP tank with a HP spring in the Reg.
Basically, you can run either. Just depends what tank you have.

the purpose of the ranges are that the ego needs the mid pressure to cycle and the geo2 doesn't because it operates at a much lower psi. it's more consistent if you match the operating pressure range. not sure about geo or geo+
