What board did you get? I just got my longboard on christmas to and love it. I got the gravity miakai (sp) with 70 mm retro zig zags. I rod it for a bit and loosened the trucks but i dont kow how loose i should make them. Any suggestions, ill mostly be freeriding carving and sliding. Also is there any good tips or videos on starting to slide cause i dont know where to start.

Thanks fellas.

As loose as you can without getting wobbles or falling off.
Check out the forums at silverfishlongboarding.com

As far as sliding the main thing is to committ all the way. Pad up b/c you will fly around at first but trust me, don't pull up or half *** it, you need to committ.

Don't get into a habit of the stinkbug grab, it's easy but cones your wheels pretty bad and you Cant do it stable at decent speeds

Those should work. Usually the best ones are lipped already. I rock the retro freerides right now for my sliding board. But once you break them in, should be good

lipped?

actually the best wheels to slide with are any kind of free ride wheel that doesn't have a lip.

If you look at yours, the edges aren't 90* cuts. I had some Gravity wheels like that, just break them in and you should be able to slide them easily

thats must suck ^^^^ get better bro haha

I still cant slide consitently iv got around 2 or 3 times but its harder then it looked. And also when i go to "dance" on the board it sometimes shoots right out from under me. Are these harder things to do and im just looking at the videos thinking their easy?

Sliding is pretty easy. What grab are you doing?

Dancing was hard or me. What deck are you doing it on? I could only do it on my friends dancer or my old platy

Well Im getting the standup slides those have been easier.
What do you mean what grab? im Just slidding with one hand on the ground or even two. Iv been trying to hold the board every so often with my left hand when i slide and use my right hand for the support.

Do you think i need to break in the wheels?

Wheels are broken in once the shinny "film" on the surface of the wheels is gone.
What duro are they?

Take a look at this video.
These are the only two slides I do (other than stand ups)

On the grabbing one, make sure you grab OVER your leg/knee and NOT BETWEEN. When you do between, it's considered a "stinkbug" grab and those might feel more comfortable but they are not good for you or your wheels.

The other slide just takes practice and full commitment going into it.

Also 80 is pretty soft.. I don't know how much you weigh but you might need to throw your weight a little more.

Again 90% of sliding is commitment and not being afraid to fall. Took me a while to figure it out but it's so fun now
