About to play our first 3 man....

So me and a few friends who have been playing paintball for awhile and are just getting into the tournament side of things and we are going to our first 3 man tournament at our local field in 2 weeks. I just had a few questions to ask:
1. Should we send 1 man dorito side, 1 man snake and 1 up the middle or have you guys found a better way of breaking?

2. How many guys should we have laning off the break?(Right now only 1 guy is laning off break and the other 2 are breaking for front bunkers)

3. Is it better to pool paint or for our first few tournaments everybody buy there own case and see how much we end up going through?

Thanks!

1: I wouldn't send a guy to snake right off break. It will be hard for only 2 guns to cover him.I would have one guy play doritio side, one play snake side in the god bunker, and one guy hold the middle to support both sides.

2: For laning, put all 3 guns up. Have your middle guy hold and lane while your other 2 run and gun to their bunkers. Try to read how many people the other team is sending to each side and adjust your lanes accordingly.

3: Paint is completely up to you. Either way, if your teammate needs paint, give him what he needs.

pretty much everyone run and gun to the bunkers, one left, one right, stick a guy at home. have your home guy try at least get one guy off break, then you guys can move up. and we used to each buy our own cases, and paintpool if needed.

i would pool paint. it wont be much.

dont send a guy in the snake, but you can send someone to the feeder or the corner to kind of control the snake, if the other team sent anyone in there.

put all guns up off the break, if you get one kill, its a 3v2. MUCH better odds.
just go out there play paintball.

weird, I just formed a 3-man team last week and we're playing in our first amateur tourney in a few weeks... I was going to post w/ fairly similar questions, but you guys did my work for me. I do have one more question, however: our team consists of me (5'4" female) and two 6'+ dudes...I was assuming that we should stick one of the big guys in the back while I play mid/front and the other guy plays mid/back (if we can even keep it that organized -- I suspect we'll get out there and forget all about strategy)... How does that sound? One of the guys is quite experienced and the other is still fairly new. Should we stick the guy who knows what he's doing in the back or the other guy? Or me? (I've been playing a while now, but never in real competition...)
Also, we've been planning on cruising around to amateur events on the east coast this summer, mostly once we recruit some more warm bodies... is it going to be a problem that the team is coed? (not in the "are we gonna lose every game" sense, but in the official rule sense...)

the snake it not ALWAYS a bad idea. Especially with so few players on the field. if you can get to the second or third stop in the snake an wrap around to the inside... it can be a great position. However, I would only advise this if you have a small/fast player that's good in the snake. Otherwise you'll lose him in the first 30 seconds

congrats! best to put the more experienced people in the back lines.

also paintball isnt big enough in the tournament world to not allow co-ed teams.

back when my team was a 3 man team we had one man playing snake one man snake corner and one in the other corner. the only person with a gun up is your snake corner edging for snake player and your other guy run and guns to the other corner. only bump when needed or possible.
-and yes pool your paint in my opinion

the way i see it u dont need a guy in the middle depending on the feild. i personally hate the middle cause i see the middle guy get pinned faster than most, if u think about it he can be shot at from two good angles. i say send them more to one side rather then right up the center. and the snake is a good idea if u have a fast and small guy, ive also seen a six three man that weighed around 235 that was a snake player, he learned how to move his weight when he needed.

When my team plays 3 man I play snake I'm average height but I know how to do work in the snake, and that's what you want keep the snake player on his toes, fast and ready to make really fast snap shots because 3 man fields are small and he'll be a threat. If you send a man in the snake always keep a back corner player with him for obvious reasons. We don't always play the snake but if the player is good then go for it... for us the home players lanes off of the break and the dorito side run and guns then ill play the God bunker and eventually make a straight run to s2,,,, watch other teams when you get there is does the most help

If you know someone is going to S1 or D1 otb on the other team, don't be afraid to put two guns on him to make sure you shoot him out.

There is always a girl or two at the local events. Nice to see the sport growing in the other gender.
