A COUPLE OF
Pronunciation (US):
• A COUPLE OF (adjective)
The adjective A COUPLE OF has 1 sense:
1. more than one but indefinitely small in number
Synonyms:
a couple of; a few
Context examples:
a few roses / a couple of roses
Similar:
few (a quantifier that can be used with count nouns and is often preceded by 'a'; a small but indefinite number)
So a couple doesn't actually have to be 2, its more personal preference other than a set number.

College dictionary + english professor > dictionary.com + random pba guy
When talking about people as "a couple" that's a noun
Kyle said a couple of hours, hours are not people.
A "couple of" is an adjective and its assumed to be 2 in most places terms but can mean any range 1-4 depending on where u live and what ones taught.

haha, I hope you didn't have to ask your professor to get this information, especially considering it says "noun" right at the top of my last post.
common sense > that

this thread is now about sharks.
The fastest swimming sharks are the mako sharks and blue sharks, which can even leap out of the water. They are also probably the fastest fish. Estimates of their speed varies; some say that they can swim at about 60 miles per hour (97 kph), while more conservative estimates are about 22 mph (35 kph). There hasn't been enough observation of their speeds to have an definitive answer.
