50-cal is really gaining traction in the rental market. Fields I never thought would carry anything but full power 68-cal paintball have picked up 50's for the younger crowd... and found it appeals to other markets as well. Weekend before last, we referee'd a bachelorette party at the local field who opted for 50's, and had a blast. They told us they had an amazing time, but had always been afraid to try paintball before. The lower impact sold them on the idea, they got to try paintball and have a blast, the field got a rental group that wouldn't have come otherwise, and the refs had fun with a fun group. That's a lot of winning all from a handful of little guns and smaller paintballs.

I would agree, the lower impact does help out quite a bit. We only use Splatmasters locally Z100 and Z200s but it seems people like that these "hurt" less.

IMHO they hurt more but I hate pinching pain for some reason, blunt pain feels so much better.
