After about 5 cases, my new FX also started to chop paint. But, I think it has more to do with changes in the weather effecting bore to barrel matches - when I switched from a .679 to a .685 back it pretty much stopped. I still get the occasional break, but that's just gonna happen from time to time.

The shell of the paint becomes more brittle as the temperature drops and it usually gets worse as winter come on full tilt...some things that might help

1) bring up your dwell to 12-14ms so the pressure behind the ball is slightly softer

2) If you are underboring, increase you bore size 0.679 to 0.682 for example or even bigger 0.684?

3) winter paint?

Checked the obvious

Have you gone over your settings and made sure they are correct. I would do a complete board reset then if your still chopping paint..I would

1. Increase your eye delay
2. Increase your debounce.
3. Increase your dwell as stated above.
4. Check to make sure nothing is binding either the bolt and/or the ram
5. Lastly but should be first, Are your eyes working, clean the reclean them and check to make sure they are in working order.
6. New AND quality battery, A low battery will wreak havoc on a marker from velocity issue, to eye malfunctions and noid issues..

Note. Even with a lurker .678 on uncapped ramp I have had no issues using stinger or premium.
If you eliminate the gun as the cuplrit the try difference bore sizing of just throw a mammoth both on it like a ridiculous .695 and also try a thicker shelled ball. Forgot to mention, make sure the face of the bolt is smooth with no edges and installed new detents..

Make sure you are shooting good paint, that is probably why I was getting chopping problems. Paint was small and it was cold and DXS Field Basic Sucks.

Mine was up and down for awhile. It started out good, then had some paint breaking issues, good again, bad again, and good for the past 3 times out or so. I think some of it had to do with bad paint, some with reg settings, and maybe some with barrel bore size. I was running a CP with .682 back. All in all I do believe that the FX is not the most gentle on paint but ever since I have played it safe with a .689 barrel back, decreased my velocity a little, and played indoors with good paint I have not had any issues.

First time I read this thread I thought I was lucky. I could shoot rope after rope after rope with no problems. Very impressive marker.

... then my FX started chopping as well- at around 5 cases or 10K shots.

So far I've shot .684 to .696, used a new battery, cnanged settings, and even chrono'd down to 250, all with no change in performance chop chop chop.

But the thing is, it just got suddenly very cold here in PA, and we were ALL breaking paint. Last weekend we shot field premium Valken that sized in at .71 or so, and our .689's cause barrel breaks from bouncing. This weekend we shot DXS field and the shells were so brittle they broke while filling our pods, my whole group just shot dust for half a day and then gave up and went home.

Cliffs Notes: I'm not sure it's the Fusion's fault.

that is very strange with the valken...but the DXS its not surprising at all. DXS low grade is very very brittle and breaks alot

it's probably the fact that your shooting really brittle paint. your going to need to use a thicker shell paint.

That's tough when the fields require use of their paint only

I'm breech chopping. Had a few barrel breaks from waay undersize paint a few weeks ago, but stepped down to .684 and that solved it. Every break since then has been a breech chop.
