I don't contribute here much anymore, though I hope to soon (working on some material. New project), but I wanted to throw this out there because I'm super excited.

Just picked up an Alesis DM8 kit.

I wonder if I can even label everything anymore... haha

Guitars on the wall are:
Gibson J-45
Schecter C-1 Classic
Schecter C-1 E/A semi-hollow
MIA Custom Shop Fender Strat

The very bottom left corner is the case for the violin.
Next to it is the djembe.
Then the Alesis DM8 kit which I'm running through a Carvin DCM150 preamp in to Nady Audio studio monitors

Directly behind the drum set is a Fender Hot Rod Deville.

The computer is running Ableton Live 8.1.1 with an Akai MPD26 pad. Also hooked up to is some tube preamp that I can't find a make or model marked on it that runs in to our M-Audio Fast Track Pro. Right now, we're just using the SM57 to record guitar tracks, but there's two other mics available.

Amp is an Egnater Vengeance 120w hooked up to a Mesa 4x12. Signal chain goes:
Guitar > Dunlop Hendrix Cry Baby > Lovepedal Superlead > Rothwell Hellbender > Strymon Timeline > TC Electronic Hall of Fame > Amp head.

Keyboard is a Korg X50.

Bass is some cheap Samick and the nylon acoustic is some brand I don't know, but it was my dad's very first guitar and I'm looking to get it repaired in the near future (it's missing a couple of tuning head pegs and the like).

All that's left is a bass amp. Should be getting one within the next week or so.

I'm extremely jealous of your studio, though the one thing I notice is you have nothing to eat up echo and excess sound. You should get some. I feel like that room wouldn't be the best to record in as it is.

Do you record into Ableton?
You can do that?

Something I definitely did not know. I thought it was just for mostly electronic production.

It's no studio by any means. Just part of my apartment's living room. Haha.

The only thing I record through the mic is guitar and vox. Even then, I'm playing with the amp's direct out in to the FastTrack Pro to see how good the results can get. Apart from that and the J-45, there really is no mic recording. At some point, I may get some dampening material though. We'll see.

And yes, you can record with Ableton. It's actually pretty decent for recording, mixing and mastering. The plugin support is super extensive (mostly due to the EDM scene), and the layout is very fluent and intuitive.

Happened upon one of these at the local shop today for $250. Debating jumping on it and swapping the pickups out. Stock ones sounded like ****.

The body shape on those Ibanezes irk me. I know there aren't infinite options for 7-strings, but those just look so uncomfortable if you aren't using a strap.

Also, a bass player my brother brought over doesn't use a strap standing up. He always puts one foot on his amp and practically hugs the guitar under his chin . There are times when I lift a knee and perch the guitar almost vertical on my thigh for certain arpeggios or huge reaches, but this dude doesn't even use a strap for security in case he trips or something.

Do it. I'm actually a big fan of those Ibanez double-cuts. Every one I've played has been really solid. There has always just been other stuff I've wanted for the price.

The pickup selector doesn't work, but other than that easy fix, it looks to be in great condition. Gonna throw some new strings on it and see how it sounds through my amp before I rip its guts out.

So after using my T-60 for the last two weeks I'm convinced it's the best sounding guitar I own. Can't believe I picked this thing up for $300 w/case. It sounds more like a tele than my MIA standard tele. Go figure lol. Me thinks it's time to thin the heard and try some new stuff.

Just ordered a Washburn hb35. I've been looking for a semi hollowbody for a while now, but couldn't justify a Gibson.

Gorgeous, you need to post pictures when you actually get it.

Since Treg posted a pic of his "studio", here's one of mine.
Computer is running Ableton in this picture, and can also run Logic Express.
My Axe-FX is right behind my computer, running midi through the computer so I can change my patches from there.

And when my friend comes over,

Its an awesome guitar for the money. I highly recommend it.

I saw that you're also interested in Teles. I have one as well and I love it.

Man, with the rig you have, stick with it! The Axe-FX is incredible but I can't make as good of a tone as easily as you can. I can make a good one, but it'll take me a bit of time haha. I'm still not happy with my tone and I've had it for like 8 months.

I really don't dig this Egnator much. It's my roommate's and doesn't compare to the Rockerverb 50 I had. I do want to pick up a Tiny Terror or a Micro Terror in the near future though.

The other route would be getting the tubes replaced on the Fender and getting a good fuzz or overdrive to shape my tone.

because racecar.

Really though, I had to get a car for a future investment. Getting back in to school and all that jazz. I can get another rockerverb in the near future.
