If I wasn't moving away from Pitt in the next week I'd say you could come jam on my **** for awhile.

I am in no shape to jam, I just know that I am motivated to play when I sound better. Zero motivation as is.

My dad bought a couple Washburn guitars, a strat type and a Les Paul style. Both have Seymour Duncan humbuckers, play amazingly, and sound great. I've now fallen in love with Washburns and my next guitar will probably be a Les Paul style Washburn since I've been looking for a Les Paul.
And I'm a sucker for flamed maple finishes, and both of them have that.

Anybody have a Soundcloud or anything? Just something I'm working on, the first part is Jack Johnson. The rest is original.

I've played a couple Washburn basses that I've dug a good bit. Cheap as **** too.

Just picked one of these up at Guitar Center for my iPhone 4:

For what they are, they're pretty god damn awesome, and sound fantastic through a good pair of headphones (or nicer stereo or PA). $20 too, and the app is free. You have to buy pedals and amp models in-program, which I'm not too keen on, but the stock models are more than enough to jam with on the fly. You can swap out pedals, amp heads, cab sims, mics, and even change the "position" of the mic in relation to the cab.

Downloading Amplitube as well, which is the iRig program, but I've heard the Peavy adapter will work with it, and the recording options are a bit nicer through that app, but we'll see. So far I'm digging it, and I very much recommend it if you have an iPhone or iPad and are looking for something fun to play with.

Man, the used market is pretty brutal for sellers right now. I'm still trying to get rid of my Strat and Les Paul.

Gotta get over that and put some calluses on your fingertips. I'd stick to a clean channel and practice using a backing track, especially helpful to learn rhythm. When you use a track with no guitar in it, you're no longer comparing your sound to another guitar. Learn the chords to a song you like, you'll eventually lock in to the rhythm/groove, and that's the feeling that motivates you to play.

Also, plz make sure your strings are relatively fresh. Playing worn out strings isn't good for anybody, they lose tone and feel bad under your fingers.

My dad used to sell them back when they were USA made. I'm slowly falling in love with these China ones though. The necks feel amazing, and the fit and finish is great. Especially for a Les Paul style guitar I can get for $200-300

New strings on my guitars, been playing to backing tracks and stuff, while it is fun the sound is just not there. Close but not there. Head to Guitar Center and plug into something decent and everything changes.

Mind if I ask what your current setup consists of?

I have a Washburn D100 acoustic from 2002 or so, my first guitar and I think it was under $250 new. I remember sitting in the music store with my parents, strumming the 3 or 4 chords I knew on a bunch of different guitars, and came to the conclusion that the Washburn sounded and projected better than others in the $200-$400 range.

Still play it, still love it, though it's taken some abuse. I have a Taylor 110, sounds just as awesome but completely different, doesn't project quite as well, but feels better to play.

I'm heading off to college next month and I'm looking for a relativity cheap amp to just jam on at college. Right now I have a Peavy Vypr 15 but it's starting to take a **** on me. Any suggestions for a new amp that has either a headphone jack or can play quietly?

As much as I'm not a huge fan of them, the little Line 6 modeling amps are cool cause they're small and you can get a lot of different sounds out of them. It just takes a lot of work to get good tone. My buddy that's Line 6 endorsed always makes my pod sound awesome, and he gets good tones out of his big Line 6 rig

There's so many options for cheap, versatile practice gear these days. POD's are great, there's tons of PC programs now, the iphone/ipad interfaces are rad too, anything Roland, VHT's, or even just buy an M9 or Zoom G3/G5 and put it through a power amp.

I forgot about the Line6 iPhone/iPad interface. The app has tons of models in it and if you already have an iPhone then it only costs you $75

I've gotten a lot of time to adjust to this Agile Intrepid 727 I picked up a little while ago, and I have to say, I'm loving it. The neck is super comfortable and the tone is great. Might throw on some slightly heavier strings in a little bit, but overall, I'm sold.

I've also been having fun throwing together all sorts of whacky arrangements with the loop station and pitch shifter I just got.

When the actual song starts. What the **** is he doing with his right hand? I tried to look up tablature for this song. I don't even know where to start. But I've set a goal of being able to play this song one day lol. Or at least the intro riff. I'd settle for that.
