I need more people to play with. I've been losing touch with my guitar and not having anyone to even do anything with. The person I wrote that 1min track with is going to Berklee in the spring unfortunately (awesome for him, **** for me)

Craigslist anywhere in Jersey has gotta be swarming.

Craigslist ATL doesn't suck. I just scored a minty all original 1967 Gibson Skylark Amp for $150. Not bad considering they go for $350 on FeeBay.

I suggest practicing with backing tracks, that lets you learn and experiment with different phrasings without the pressure of other people.

YouTube has backing tracks from BB King to Iron Maiden to Buckethead - you're bound to find something that perks your ear up and keeps you excited to practice.

You'll be much happier when you're able to pick up the key of a song and then just go at it. Some of my favorite moments of playing have been had while just jamming out.

It's kind of like learning your instrument over again, on an entirely new level. Rather than reciting music, you're doing nothing other then channeling your energy through your guitar, doing nothing other than expressing yourself at that very moment. It's a wonderful feeling when you can do it efficiently.
Thanks for the advice guys I did manage to get into it once or twice, but not that well. Part of it as well was the tone the other guitar was using. He had it really high and fuzzy which made it super hard to tell what he was playing. Not to pass the buck, but it was just another added obstacle for me. I'm sure I'll pick it up.

My Vox took a **** this morning so I guess, rather than buying the SG I really wanted, I'm buying a new amp. ****.

I like a lot of the TubeMeisters features (two channel, 18W/5W/1W settings, full equalizer, and the line out for recording), the price is right, and I don't doubt Hughes&Kettner's quality (the Germans do, after all, make good stuff) but, given that I'm more into Fender and Vox tones, I'm not sure if it will give me the sound I'm after.

Alex Lifeson says you should buy it.

I still kinda really want a Vox but the amount of crapping-out stories I've heard from people makes me pretty hesitant to drop the cash on one.

I can't believe I didn't put the pieces together until now. My drummer constantly references The Mercury Program and Maserati and said he used to play and tour with them and they were all really good friends. Started telling me about a drummer friend of his that always wore hoodies. One day that friend and someone else got stuck in an elevator between floors, they tried to jump it, and that friend's hoodie got caught and drug him back under the elevator, dropping him down the elevator shaft to his death.

That friend was Jerry Fuchs.

Yeah, Dave (my drummer) lived around Florida/Georgia for a number of years, hence how he knows all of them. He's got a more technical background, having done more math-rock than post-rock, but he's still got that same groove and vibe that Jerry does but with more intricacy. It's wild listening to stuff now and comparing the both of them.

To say I lucked out in finding this guy is an immense understatement.

Yeah, part of me likes the idea of experimenting with a different sound.

The chords in this song are so bizarre.

40/750 fender points achieved for my free pawn shop 72.
Off to a slow start. Hopefully I'll pick up a good amount on Friday.

I'll check it out when I get home. They block youtube videos at work.

I've decided to go ahead and bite the bullet for a GC line of credit so I can pick up an Orange Rockerverb 50 2x12 combo.
