Rap: United States vs. Europe vs. Australia

Which area to do you think has the strongest/best rappers? I'm talking from standpoint of lyricism, not fame or prominence or net worth. Also, when I say United States I'm referring mostly to underground US Hip Hop / Rap.

I've been in the US all my life, but my vote is for Europe, more specifically the UK. I'd say the other two are a close tie for second though.

P.S: If you own music by Lil Wayne, Drake, Kendrick Lamar or any of the stereotypical "cash money hoes" BS then don't bother voting or posting.

For reference:

US non-mainstream:
-Grieves
-Blueprint
-Unknown Prophets
-Etc etc etc

Europe:
-Akala
-Lowkey
-Fliptrix
-Rhyme Asylum
-Etc etc etc

Australia:
-Hilltop Hoods
-The Tongue
-Horrowshow

I don't listen to much non-US hip-hop, but from what I have seen the UK has a huge influence on US hip-hop.

As for lyricism, it really depends what you're looking for. I've always preferred more of a storyteller over just straight lyrics. Thats where the US excels.

Also, l don't think you can base whose music is superior purely based of lyrics. I do think they are a big part of it, but theres also things like substance, delivery, and just general sound.

Overall I'd probably vote for US since its what enjoy the most.

I guess more the overall movement then! And I think I agree with you on the story aspect as well, fair enough!

Still gotta stick to US though. I've always had trouble enjoying foreign rap.

Although I agree, I don't think it's as obvious as you're making it out to be. Rap coming out of the UK has had a decently big influence in american rap. Especially with the more electronica, techno-influenced beats that are starting to emerge in the US.
